I usually don't share stuff like this with everyone but I feel compelled to tell my friends on the SO about my dad. His name is Dick Danley he was raised in Norman and went to the old University High and starred in Basketball for them. He and my Mom married and had 4 children 3 boy's and 1 girl one son of which is our very own IB4OU2. He is an avid Sooner fan and supporter. He was a statistician in the OU pressbox for 25 years and his dad did the same for 25 years also. One of his best friends was Bruce Drake the legendary Sooner basketball coach.

My dad is 78 years old and he is bedfast at my sisters house and he is under the care of my sister and Hospice. My dad is dying and I probably hugged and kissed and told him I loved him for the last time today before I came home to Arkansas. My wife told him that we would see him in a few months and he shook his weakedly saying no you won't I won't be here. That was hard to see and hear.

Please keep my family and a great Sooner man in your prayers.

Prayers for you and your family.
I went though the same thing a few years ago, and will always be thankful that I had the time to tell my Dad how much I respected him and how much I appreciated all he had ever done for me.
May God provide you comfort in the coming times of sadness that you will experience.

Thoughts and prayers.
Hospice will be such a blessing for him though. They will help keep him comfortable, which is all you can do for him at this point.

Just tell him you'll see him again someday and to keep his brand new 20-20 heavenly eyes peeled for Booger as he strolls up to the Eastern Gate to Glory in the "wink of an eye".

Soon, your Dad will know no pain and be able to watch any game he wants without a satellite feed.

Hang in there bro. Your Mama is gonna need you more than she ever has. She'll get thru it, but will need the love and support of her son.

Prayers to you and your family. I was by the sides of my grandmother & grandfather when they died. It truly was saddening but I felt it helped them to have the family there. You did all a son could do for his dad.

God bless you.

In and done. Be thankful you had a chance to tell him how you felt before you part from each other temporarily.

I went through the same thing earlier this year. I had to make decisions because the other family members couldnt. I know my step-dad is now at peace. That is a comfort. Thoughts go out to you and your family.

Blessed Be!!!

My best to you and yours.

We should all be so lucky to have family to put our comfort as a priority in our final times as yours has done for your father.

Prayers and kind thoughts for you. I had a similar experoience with my Grandpa, but did not have the "honor" of such a good bye with my mom who passed away 30 years and 2 days ago.

And what Homey said.
