The wife is taking me to Vegas in the middle of January for Christmas. Has anyone been recently any thing new and exciting to keep in mind.

Stay somewhere centrally-located. Bellagio, Caesar's, the Wynn, etc. Actually, Treasure Island is almost dead-center, but the others are nicer.

Check out Blue Man Group, a Cirque du Soleil, etc.

Treasure Island and Wynn's is at the north end of the southern strip. To really be central for strip stuff I'd stick to the corner with Bally's, Bellagio, Caeser's Palace.

I like the Aladdin and I just got an e-mail for $49 per night during some January dates. They're doing construction turning it into the Planet Hollywood casino and are offering really good deals right now. The rooms are really nice there.

As for newer shows, I HIGHLY recommend Love, the Cirque de Soleil Beatles show at the Mirage. If you remotely like the Beatles, you'll love it. It's not as good as "O" but "O" is unbelievable. If you want tickets to "O" you should have looked last month. I'd try to get them as soon as possible if I were you.

Todai in the Desert Passage at the Aladdin has all you can eat japanese buffet with fresh sushi, if you like sushi.

DONT LOOK AT THE LIGHT POSTS, THERE ARE DIRTY THINGS ON THEM!

Or, at least while your wife is watching  :D

La Reve at Wynn's is a pretty good Cirque type show.

And.. the half price ticket day of places usually have tix to it.

I'm going 1/20-1/24. Caesar's Palace.

I've never been to Vegas before.

Do the casinos comp you on drinks?

As long as you're playing something... free booze to help loosen the billfold.

If you like sushi then go the the Social House in the Treasure Island
If you like mexican served to you by hot wimmen then go the the Pink Taco in the Hard Rock
If you like wonderful Italian cuisine then got to Piero's located on Convention Center Way.
If you want to consume mass quantities at 3:00 am after a long night of whatever then go to Fat Burger located towards the southern end of the strip.
If you want to see hot girls and pay to much for drinks then go to Scores Las Vegas.
If you want to try to drink all of the Vodka in Las Vegas then go to Red Square located in Mandalay Bay. The bar is made of ice. There is a miniature zamboni that comes out and resurfaces the bar. I made that last part up.
If you want to shop, go to the Fashion Show Mall located on the strip.
The La Reve show at the Wynn was pretty cool. However that is the only one of those types of shows that I have seen. I have heard the Beatles Love show at the Mirage is really good.
Be sure to eat an In-N-Out burger while you are out there.

The monorail is a big rippoff
The shoppes at the Venetian, Ceasars Forum Shoppes, are good.In the New York, New York Gallaghers is one of the best Steak House you will ever eat at.
Hertz rents convertible Corvettes, and also Cadillac XLR's.

I have no idea where the good gambling is b/c I suck at it.

I went this past summer and the best thing I saw was the Love Cirque show at the Mirage. If you even slightly like the Beatles, you will think this show rocks. Be sure to order your tickets to the Cirque shows early. We saw Love and Zumanity, and Love was 10x better.

How far is Vegas from the Betty Ford Clinic?

I may need to hit both while I'm in that part of the world.

If Heidi Fleiss has opened her Theme Park, you can probably ride the main attraction...;)

When we stayed at the Aladdin in September, Mike Tyson had a thing where he worked out in the lobby each day. He'd go out and spar, hit the speed bag or heavy bag, jump rope, etc. Then he'd answer questions.

I missed it both days.

You'll have to wait to ride Tyson. He was arrested on DUI and cocaine charges this morning in Arizona.

We saw Ka at the MGM Grand, it was okay. We had the most fun down around Fremont Street, but it was interesting to see all the newer casinos like New York New York, Paris, the Wynn, etc.

We are staying at the mirage. My wife saw the Cirque de Soliel show at Disney World, and didnt really care for it. Has anyone seen both to compare? Are the ones in Vegas more entertaining or are they all kind of the same.

I was thinking of trying to see Penn and Teller. Also has anyone been out to the Red Rock Canyon or the Valley of Fire?

That's a nice hotel. You'll like it. They have a California Pizza Kitchen.

Well, counting your wife, that's exactly one person I've ever heard that didn't like it. I don't hardly know what to tell you. Most of the Cirque shows are generally the same type of show. Love has more music than most.

They always seem funny. Vulgar, though.

Yes. It's pretty neat. Nice for a day trip.
