The defense should be able to keep us close enough with all of the top teams to have a chance to win in the end.

Sometimes OU fans including myself give our team too much credit, I think ohio state, florida, michigan, and usc would all beat us by 10-17. I hate to say that, but I think it is true

people that make comments like this are so funny.. you act like WE are the ones going to play the game.. it really doesn't matter if a fan is overconfident or not, we don't decide the outcome of the game.. it's all about the teams attitude, and you weren't referring to the team, but instead the fans..

Yeah, but sometime when I hold back as a fan prior to the game, and then OU kicks the opponents ever-lovin-arse, I feel some guilt for holding back - like I don't deserve to bask in the glory. :confused: ;)

Well I happen to know that USC is not one of 'em. Yea they were golden when Leinart and Bush were there but they got beat by two non-ranked crappy teams.

Hmmm...we might not win any of those matchups but I guarantee you it won't be easy. This is a very tough team playing some very solid football right now. The only reservation I have is that OU hasn't really beaten anybody this season either. All I know is that I would take the Big XII champ over the whatever conference champ BSU plays in any day and everyday.

we could probably beat anyteam in the nation. we could also turn the ball over 5 times while outgaining the opponent by 100 yards and lose to alot of teams.

with a healthy AD and our defense playing like they have the last few games, on a neutral field as a bowl should be, my opinion would be:

tOSU - would be tough to win, but we could hang with them. Wouldnt bet too much on a win though.
UM - would be the same as tOSU..prolly play with them, dont know about a win though.
SUC - very beatable
LSU - beatable if their QB has off day. If QB is having a good day, this one is tough...
FLA - we could play with them. Tossup.

The announcers at the '87 OB ('86 season) said, more than once, that OU's defense looked like the "Monsters of the Midway." Remember, at that time the Bears D was defending SB champs and they kept insisting that the Bears players were wearing Crimson, because OU's D was so dominate.

One of the most overlooked units in OU history was the '86 D. During a 5 game stretch after the Miami debacle, OU scored 226 points and gave up 3.

Those 3 losses to the cheating hair net still p*ss me off.

tOSU - they win by 14 or more
mich - they win by 7-14
Ufla - close but they win by 7-10
lsu - we could beat lsu, I COULD see us losing by 7 though
usc- toss up, best chance for victory for us
