View Full Version : Out with the Beetle and in with the Truck

Well, I never really mentioned this because I was scared the idea of not driving my beetle would destroy my carefully crafted "online persona" but I actually totaled my beetle about a year ago.

This morning my dad woke me up and presented me with my newest ride...a 1991 Dodge truck.

A vehicle that runs is by far a better gift than the nicest pair of shoes would be when you don't have a vahicle. You know, the saying about gift horses and their mouths.

You guys don't get it.
He is not going to be allowed on the Baylor campus with that truck. The only way is if they think they are going to have one of the truck bashin' for charity.
Poor Sic'Em.

It needs a Hemi.

SicEmBaylor

It has a V8, whatever the hell that means. Actually, the more I look at this truck the more I think it has some potential. Get some really awesome seat covers, a new custom stereo w/ipod connector, some new wheels, and this has some potential for cool.

Yeah, and now you will have a bed with you all the time.
No need to go to Branson to sleep alone.

So, I'm taking bets on how long this one will last... SicEm never goes long without wrecking his car, somewhat.

Oh, and by the way, I hate to be the bearers of bad news, but I do so love to be the joy killer - when he says online persona... he means it. Haha... zima... haha!

I'm actually developing somewhat of a love/hate relationship with this truck.
You all laugh, but I can't wait to show up to Waco with this thing. I'll be quite the conversation piece!

It runs pretty well. It apparently needs a transmission tune up (it's a little rough shifting gears even though it's an automatic) and some new tires but otherwise it's suppose to run perfectly.

I haven't noticed any problems so far but I haven't driven it too much. I average a major wreck every 6 months or so; I'm thinking my next one will do far more damage to whoever I hit than it does me.

old trucks really are fun. trust me, as long as it stays ok mechanically, you'll enjoy driving it.

not sure if you can squeeze into a space? don't even worry about it in this truck. need to haul some crap around for someone? throw it in the back. got to run into the convenience store for a coke? leave it running in the parking lot.

also, I'll bet that kind of a truck would get you more tail at Baylor than a beetle.

Ive been thinkin about this overnight BaylorBoy, and Ive decided your new ride only needs a few modifications to make it "the ****"

First, you need some of these mud thuders:

http://www.epinions.com/images/opti/17/50/autoTiresAllDunlop_Radial_Mud_Rover-resized200.jpg

Then you got to have this equiped just about this way:
(Get Jerk to help you chose one and Dean the other)

http://www.wildcatcommerce.com/productimages/large/119/SAN_10850.JPG

And any Righteous Pickup needs this for convenience, plus it will make your bed look a bit shorter.

http://www.pickuptrucktoolboxes.com/Delta/244000_closedright_HR_small.jpg

You gots to have one of these for those lonely trips to Branson:
(Plus, it's a definite Chick Magnet)

http://europa.eu/abc/travel/images/picture_pets.jpg

Then finish it off by slapping this in your rear window:

Then my friend, you will have a Class A Pickup truck.

I'm not ungrateful, I'm just giving him a hard time about it. Trust me, I'm thankful. I was extremely thankful for the bug which is why I never minded driving one despite the razzing I got for it. :D

Heh, actually it needs new tires and I was asking him if I could get those giant big *** tires for this thing. I'm not sure that's a good idea though since I already need a step ladder to get into the damned thing.

And let me tell you my dog is already one hell of a chick magnet. I had him in the car with me one day when these teenage girls pull up and they all get out and are staring and one says, "omg he's so ugly he's cute!" I'm really not sure if they were talking about me or the boy.

Now, WTF is that giant metal thing for the bed? Tools? I couldn't use a tool if my life depended on it, but I could put other useful stuff in there like campaign bumper stickers and such when I'm out on the trail.

One of the very first things I thought when I saw that back window is, "how am I going to get a Baylor decal all the way across with those breaks in the back window..." I guess I'll have to split the "BAY" and "LOR" portions which I'm not really happy doing but oh well.

And I'd consider putting an OU sticker on it as well but my parents would crucify me. :D

you could go extra redneck and put a Calvin (with a sooner tee) ****ing on an losur logo

and then just say, but I put an osu on there too

or you could just man up and tell them you like a better school

I'm starting to get into this truck. Either people are lying to me or they legitimately think it's cool down in Waco.

The interior is solid red which is just a BIT too much for me.

So, I think I'd like to get a gray tweed seat cover to offset some of the red.
Maybe something like this only for the entire bench seat:
