Based on the second Emile Griffith/Benny Paret fight.
For you non-boxing fans, Griffith was a great fighter who was also closeted. Paret called him a fag in the press conference before the fight. Griffith beat Paret so savagely that he slipped into a coma in the ring and died 10 days later. It was also the first televised ring death in the United States.
