He's 12, any ideas? I was pretty surprised at how few games there were for the Xbox 360....I expected there to be a ton since it has been out for a while but there hasn't been at any of the stores we've been to.

So....what's a good one that, preferrably, isn't rated Mature (you know, in case I want to play it).

call of duty 3

He asked for CoD2 for some reason so that's what we got. And I didn't really want to get two games that are the same. *shrug*

Get him a .22 and take him squirrel hunting and introduce him to the great outdoors...whats happening to America's youth these days? :)

The boy is 12 for crying out loud! Putting a firearm into a 12 year old's hands is no different than giving him a hypodermic syringe full of heroin and telling him to "shoot up, Johnny." How in the name of all that is holy could you suggest giving a firearm to an innocent child? I am appalled.

besides, he's 12, he needs a 12-gauge, not a .22......

A 12 gauge would work as well....:D

I think he might be allergic to the sun and fresh air. :D

My 12 yo daughter even asked for an Xbox 360 from Santa. I hope she isn't disappointed come Christmas Morn.

She is just going to have to be happy with:

The TC Contender's a great gift. What caliber?

I'm just kidding, but I would take one, if anyone is giving. the 30-30 one would be good for hunting deer.

I shot one once, and it was the truest pistol I ever fired. Dead Center. I think I was twelve at the time.

I was too. I have the TC Encore but I would love to have the Contender.

These ideas are worse than the selection of Xbox games.

Call of Duty is a sweet game. I'd go with Fight Night 3 or NCAA Football as far as sports go. Gears of War is pretty fun as far as shoot-em-up games are concerned. That and you get to blow some aliens up. :)

Sadly, he doesn't like sports much. I might take a look at Gears of War though, thanks!

If he likes RPG's Oblivion is excellent.
there is also a new Sonic the Hedgehog for that type of game...have not played it though.

I guess Scarface and the Sopranos will not be in his stocking, they do look interesting though.

since we are on games, Rainbow Six Las Vegas is the BEST FPS EVAR. The controls are perfect, you can do everything with ease..its not like GRAW where I had to stop, think about what I wanted to do and remember the control to do it.

I am currently playing F.E.A.R...its not near as good as RSLV, but I have only played for about an hour so I will give it some more time.

I'm pretty sure he has Oblivion so that's the kind he likes, yeah. :)

That is the main reason I don't play video games. I like all of the EA sports games but I can't keep up with all the damn buttons so I just don't play them very often.

When I was younger we had two buttons and we liked it!!!

Gears of War = awesome, but I'm pretty sure it's rated M. It's way gory, has some cussing, etc.

for future reference, maybe next Christmas or birthday or something, if he likes Oblivion, this is supposed to be killer. I dont think they have a release date yet.

Also keep an eye out for Jade Empire 2, whenever they wind up finishing that one. It should rock. Oh, and Halo 3. :D

BTW, GHP, speaking of Halo 3... (http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?cid=9340)

Also, if you like shooters, keep an eye out for Huxley...it looks to be Halo on crack, with some WoW thrown in.

If you get him Halo, don't get him X-Box live and let him become one of those Halo junkies that play online for 72 hours straight with no sunlight and actually use words like "pwn" and sux0r" in real life. My roommate is becoming addicted. I may have to get him to rehab before it's too late.

Also, I don't believe it's any worse than Call of Duty. I think he said his son already had that...and I think there was some cussing in that as well as gore.

I rented Tony Hawk's Project 8 and its kept my attention for a while, pretty good.. I don't know if they put skateboarding into the sports category or not though.
