After today, the period of daylight each 24 hours will start to get longer at the rate of one minute per day, until the summer equinox when the cycle reverses.

If you were a pagan in Europe about a thousand years ago, you would party hard tonight. Winter Solstice celebrations were a big deal and included feasting, drinking and general merriment. I'm generally a big fan of general merriment.

So, tonight, put on your viking helmet, hoist a brew, light your Yule log and kiss somebody.

um, I believe "general merriment" to those people meant "teh buttsecks".

if you're still a big fan, Johnny Mack will want to have a word with you.....

We'll be playing our Winter Solstice Poker tournament tonight with lots of drink and merriment. Hairy can leave his yule log at home though...:D

i'm gonna have to spend the extra minute tomorrow pondering what i'm going to do with the extra minute i get each day.:mad:

I'll be bringing my "yule wallet" to take home all the money.

I'm not taking the bait, homey. You can't draw me into another long drawn out debate about the evils of the Winter solstice. ;)

I wish I could move to Australia in the Winter and back to the US in the Summer.

Daylight Savings time rocks and Standard time sucks. I hate getting off work at 5:30 pm and it's already dark outside.
