Sorry for such a downer type thread, but our family really needs the help of the Sooner faithful.
My great uncle and my dad have attended games in Norman since 1963. I think they might have missed only one game and that was due to my dad being really ill.
Anyhow, my great uncle was diagnosed on Monday with an "aggressive malignant mass in his chest wall just outside his lung"-those were the dr's words. He is 72+ yrs old and the drs said they can't operate on it because of its size. Now, they have not given him any timeline on how much "time he has left". They say a lot has to do with how his body responds to the meds and treatment if he chooses to go that route.
So, prayers are greatly needed for a dear Sooner. Funny story about him, he ran away from home when he was 10 yrs old to hitch hike to Norman to see OU play. My great grandmother sent the OHP after him, lol. We often joke about that wondering who would our family be cheering for if he hadn't chosen OU and ran off to watch OSU play.
Very weird, he has led a very clean healthy lifestyle. Never smoked, or drank or any of that. Eats well, exercises regularly, just doesn't make sense.
So next time you're talking to the big man upstairs, please keep him in your thoughts. His name is John and lives in Tulsa.
Thanks
