obsessive-compulsive. but I already knew that.

I've collected about 400 books on how to cure that. Only 43 more to go!

Histrionic? Do tell.

I had moderate results for obssessive-compulsive and narcisisstic. Go figure.

says I'm moderate in histrionics too, but I'm not sure what that means.....

edit: looked it up. "Center of attention". yeah, ok, that could be me at times.

Low in all except Histrionic which is moderate.

I think the questions are too transparent to a college educated adult. The MMPI is a little better asking scenario type questions.

I heard once that researchers were seeking out sociopaths for a study and put out an advertisement to attract possible candidates. The ad asked something to the effect of "would you do anything on a dare? Are you the life of the party? Then we are seeking you for a study......"

Very interesting. You don't ask negative type questions and expect people to answer with honesty. You ask the sociopath whether he is as great and special as he thinks he is in other ways.

Exactly how I scored. Scary. I started to become concerned that almost every question I answered "no" to. I thought maybe that was indicative of something WAY wacky.

FaninAma

Very interesting. You don't ask negative type questions and expect people to answer with honesty.

And that is the problem with psychiatry. Psychiatric patients have to be in total crisis or near a total dysfunctional state before they seek help on their own or through a court order....unless they are hypochondriacs.

I took the MMPI and I thought the questions on that test were very transparent, also.

Low on all except Anti-Social, Narcissistic and Histrionic (Moderate on all three)

Anti-social is because I am around people at work for 50 hours a week. I meet a lot with people and my office is always accessible. I shoot the breeze as much as possible for 50 hours a week with people so they will know I am approachable. In my job, the human interaction is constant - fortunately most of it's with the same core group of 30-40 people.

When I get a day off or a weekend free, I'm asked to go to a kid's birthday or a wedding - it's usually something that consumes an entire day on a weekend. I can't do it all - there are things that need to be completed at home, and occasionally, but rarely, I just need a day of doing nothing to catch my breath. I am not Bill Clinton out there working a room.

People with schizoid personality disorder avoid relationships and do not show much emotion. Unlike avoidants, schizoids genuinely prefer to be alone and do not secretly wish for popularity. They tend to seek jobs that require little social contact. Their social skills are often weak and they do not show a need for attention or acceptance. They are perceived by others as humorless and distant and often are termed "loners."

They make it sound like a bad thing. :(

Narcissistic personality disorder is characterized by self-centeredness. Like histrionic disorder, people with this disorder seek attention and praise. They exaggerate their achievements, expecting others to recongize them as being superior. They tend to be choosy about picking friends, since they believe that not just anyone is worthy of being their friend. Narcissists tend to make good first impressions, yet have difficulty maintaining long-lasting relationships. They are generally uninterested in the feelings of others and may take advantage of them.

Dayummm... I just keep getting cooler the more I read.

Not all of that is true of me though. I don't take advantage of people or seek out attention. I just think I'm better than the rest of you losers. :)
