Zero. I've never worked at a place that would let you carry them over. It's always been use it or lose it.

I get 32 days of vacation time a year and can carry over a little more then 15 days if I want. This year I will carry over 11 days but my 2006 vacation has to be used by April 1.

yermom, why 336? is ou different than other state agencies?

I currently earn 5 weeks a year and can accrue 480 hours of vacation that my employer is financially liable for if I leave.

I can carry another 140 (I think) on top of that, but my employer isn't obligated to pay me for it if I leave.

I don't get a vacation. My employees get one paid week. We do take Fridays off for every home football game though. We also take 3 days for OU/Texas, but we take our position as OU football fan very seriously. We don't consider that as time off. Its our duty. ;)

I carry as many as I can, we get up to 30 days until use it or lose it kicks in. The extra days serve as a "severage package" and as insurance. Bank as many days as your ermployer allows.

They have only let us carry over 3 days max in the past. This year, none. :(

No limit on sick leave (currently I have 2,064 hours of sick leave accrued)

I could take off the next year and a another couple months if I needed to. Full pay, bennies, etc. And I'd still be earning additional leave while taking the time off.

I can't carry forward unused vacation, but I get paid for unused. It's nice to get an extra week's paycheck at the end of the year.

I get 3 weeks and usually carry over about a week of that. That's handy because this year I took a lot of time off when my Dad was really sick, so I still have some accrued.

My dad retired with about a year and a half in vacation/sick leave. I don't think it's possible anymore, but man, that's a nice benefit. Imagine how much more that time is worth years later when your salary has increased?

Sucks that the modern world has caught on. :(

Their sick leave carryover is the same as all fed gov't employees. I was envious of the annual leave carryover.

we aren't exactly state employees, like when state employees get raises, they aren't talking about us. we seem to also get raises, but they aren't the same as what the state approves, i think it still goes through t regents or something

they changed it a while ago. it used to be graduated, like you could only keep 240 at a time, and the more years you were there, the more you could keep, i think up to 336

now everyone has the same limit, but you get more leave time the longer you are there. i started at 18 hours a month, but after 5 years it's 20, which is like 6 weeks a year

if we leave i think they only pay us for a month's worth

Employees may accumulate more than the maximum annual leave accumulation limits shown in the schedule, provided that such excess is used during the same calendar year in which it accrues or within twelve months of the date on which it accrues, at the discretion of the Appointing Authority. Employees shall not be paid for excess leave above the accumulation limit; such excess accumulations shall be used for leave purposes in the agency where it was accrued or, if an employee was transferred to an agency by statute or executive order, in the agency to which the employee was transferred regardless of where the leave was accrued, only while the employee is continuously employed.

My uncle did that right before he retired from the USPS. He had tons of sick leave accrued that they weren't going to pay him for and he was able to use most of it and stayed home for over a year and then retired.

I can carry over 60, but usually carry over between 25-35 and I love my unlimited sick leave.

The way it worked then (and still does now) is that you get paid cash for your accrued annual leave (your dad was a PCES, so he got to carry over even more than the 560 hours us common executives get to for a nice lump sump upon retirement), and you get a time credit for your sick leave.

On my 55th birthday, I will have 37 years, 4 months of "straight time." If I have a years worth of S/L, I could retire with 38 years, 4 months and increase my retirement by 2%. I'd get a check for however many hours of A/L I carry over.

Some of you can eat poop. I've had and taken vacation at every place I have worked. You wanna know why? It's because it is/was part of my salary. At my last job I got paid to work 50 weeks a year. I'd be stupid to work 52 when I was only being paid to work 50.

When Dad worked for the VA, the Hospital admin. decided he was going to put a write up in Dad's permanent file. An investigation had shown that Dad had followed the written SOP to the letter but the admin. was insistent about doing the write up. Dad advised the admin. that he had 3 years to retirement and 3 years 2 months of accrued sick leave. He then told the guy that if he put the write up in his personnel file, "It would just make me sick."
