Tough decision here, need help

I've been invited to go on a little 2 week tour with the Bonnie Bishop band. I would have to use all of my vacation to do this. This would cost me $0 for travel and lodging.

What should I do. I have to let them know by Wednesday.

I wasnt trying to be a negative nancy. Just the oil field is funny about vacations, and every MWD/DD I have talked to are scared to ask for vacation because the boss men want them to work during the quite boom. You may get all the work in the TX panhandle after you come back.

I can understand your opinion, but it would be worth going just to see. I wouldn't necessarily want to go back, and I certainly wouldn't pay for it, but I'm glad I got to see the culture up close.

1. Never heard of the yainch.

2. I wouldn't waste 2 weeks of my leave to travel with the Rolling Stones.

3. When I go to Japan and Australia, I'm gonna go when/where I want and do whatever I want to do. When you're on somebody elses dime, you can't do that.

4. I wouldn't fly to either place without a confirmed upgrade. You ever sit in coach for a brazillion hours?

5. If I were your boss, and you'd been on the job for a couple months, and then you come ask me for a couple weeks of leave my response would be "go ahead and take the rest of your life off, you don't work here any more." But hey, that's me.

Buddy if you like your job I would suggest you not request the time off. You've only worked there a few months now and requesting 2 weeks off would probably be ill advised. There will be other opportunities on down the road I'm sure...

A sign of maturity is realizing how the decisions you make not only effect you but also the people around you at home and at work. That's just my two cents. :)

I decided not to ask for the time off for basically the same reason that IB4OU said.
