sure they get a lot of responses, but no one really reads them.

the bottom line is: no one really gives a **** what YOU are listening to.

Your not supposed to question the reasoning of the WAYLT thread....ever. ;)

You know what? There are about 10-15 people who really enjoy that thread. They look at what the other people are listening to, they go out and sample the bands, they make recommendations for other music for people to listen to. Personally, I've found dozens of new bands and albums that I enjoy thanks to that thread. I've seen concerts based on recommendations in that thread. It's important to a few regular posters on this board, and it doesn't hurt anybody. If you don't like that thread, or you don't like music, fine. Stay the f*ck out of it. But I don't understand all of the asshats who get obsessed with it, who cry and moan, and act like it's worse than some of the incendiary political bull****, hateful feuding and whatnot that goes on this board. I would encourage everyone who has a problem with that thread to enjoy a nice warm glass of shut the f*ck up and go post in any of the dozens of other asinine threads that crop up around here on a daily basis.

Actually, upon further review, it's apparently important to around 20 regular posters. Oh, and it has three times as many views as posts, so, whoops! There goes that theory!

I think it has a lot to do with people showing how indie the are.

I know that I've refrained from posting some things that were on my random play before. And I'm the guy who admitted to Peter Cetera earlier today, so you KNOW it was some awesome stuff.

True. The question, of course, is do you root for the Bolts tonight (you know, the AFC West champs who you have no chance of catching) or the Chefs?

Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond

BlondeSoonerGirl

Nope - no post-padding. Because it seemed to bother so many people and they griped about it so much to their mommas, the posts in those threads don't count once the threads are moved to the Testing Forum.

We've talked about the good things a brazillion times...we learn about music we'd prolly never hear of otherwise. We've been turned on to stuff we never would have listened to otherwise. I know what people like and when they says 'BSG, you should check this out' I do because I know that if they say something is good - it prolly is.

Different people bring different things to the thread. Different styles...different genres...and it's nice. It's nice to enjoy it with other people. Some people make me wanna bust out some Wolfie and let something timeless and beautiful into my earhole. Some make me wanna pull up a good rock playlist and get my rock on. Some make me wanna listen to pretty stuff (which seems to be my home, anyway :D ) and talk to my heart. Some make me wanna break out the old school hard rock and start breaking stuff up in my office. Some make me wanna pull up stuff that I love and haven't heard in a long time. Some make me wanna bring up some old school country and get my hillbilly on. Some make me wanna listen to what they're listening to because I've never even heard of the band and want to know more about them. We get our music on, we get our learn on and we get our mental library expanded a bit. Opens your mind, sometimes. And Lord knows we could use more of that around here...

I've often wondered exactly what it is about that thread that bothers people so much. I mean, to the point that you'd actually start a thread to b1tch about it? C'mon - help me out here...

And yeah - if you don't like it and it seems stupid and meaningless and it actually angers you...don't go into it. Just stay out because we prolly don't give a frock what you're listening to anyway. Freakin' turds.

I must admit I'm a WAYLT thread lover even though I've not posted in one in along time, you see I can't listen to music at work and since my youngest daughter's staying at home to finish off her last semester of college it's near impossible for me to post at night. The WAYLT thread turned me on to Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, The Lips and many others
and I'm a pretty old music lover and I appreciate other SO friends sharing their music.

I've found a lot of good music because of the WAYLT threads. Mars Volta, Dandy Warhols, Matthew Sweet, White Stripes, Flaming Lips...I ended up listening to a lot of stuff I wouldn't have otherwise, and some of it I even liked. :)

I've often thought that the golf lovers should have their own golf thread that just grows and grows and grows like our music thread does (and no - I don't give a rip if your posts count or not). Every tourney you guys have watched together, every time you guys have played together and every time you've asked about clubs and courses - it would be a very neat thing to have all of that in one thread that just kinda chronicles your golf 'growth' and stuff you've learned from one another.

And when someone comes in and goes 'this thread should be deleted - it sucks' I'll be you'd get as passionate as we do about ours. It's just a personal passion that brings you joy. Something good you can share with others that also enjoy it and appreciate it.

Good stuff is good stuff. I just don't get the hate.
