No, congrats to him though, he's a great coach. Coach Stoops is just better.

i'm not as hot on him now that they kinda tanked at the end of the year

if they won the Big East i'd be all about it

Like it or not he took a perennial 1 to 3 win team to a 10 win season and back to back bowl games.

oh, i agree that he has done a great job, but for me, the luster kinda wore off a bit

i guess it was a 3OT loss to WV that kept them out of a BCS game though, tank is a bit harsh

still gay...ness. I would rather see Jim Gorbe get it over Schiano they won the ACC with Wake.

Wake.

just let that sit in for a second. Thats like winning the SEC with Vanderbilt, or winning the Big XII with Kansas (not Baylor, that would be like winning with Duke)

Still Bob pwns all

Hard to argue with either of the two following statements:

1. Schiano richly deserves this award. Rutgers, folks.
2. Stoops is a better coach.

Not unexpected, but it should have gone to Wake's coach.

Should be shared between all 3

Schiano had OU something like 15 on his last coaches poll ballot. F'em.

Had Rutgers gone 0-12 this year, their coach still would've gotten that award, sad to say. They were desperate to give that award to a coach in charge of a team anywhere close to Princeton, since, technically, that's where the first real college football game was played in 1869.

P.C. can be a real bummer, at times.

Coach Stoops still should have gotten it.

Big East sucks. So overrated. If coach of the year means having a mediocre season beating a bunch of no-noamers (yes even Louisville), then it has no meaning at all. What a joke!

some of you guys are fools...what Schiano did at Rutgers is damn near impossible at most schools that type - the only other truly deserving coach is the Wake coach...get real

As much as I love Stoopsy, come on the talent base at OU is insanely overwhelming compared to RU or WF...get over yourselves

Agreed, lets see freaking Rutgers play Texas, Texas Tech, OK State, Missouri, aTm, Colorado, etc. It is amazing what having a good record against a bunch of na-namers does - look at Boise State!

I am so tired of a team getting hyped just because of their record, no matter the lack of schedule strength!!!!!

Coach of the year to beat Illinois, Ohio, Howard, Navy, Pittsburg, Connecticut, Cincinnati, Syracuse, and barely beating South Florida, North Carolina and Louisville?

What a joke!

Stoops for President!

I thought that honor belongs to the OSU faggies.

So, is Rut still chopping since they lost?

Although I don't agree with the selection, I can understand it. The smaller programs, Rutgers, Boise State, and Wake Forest have been getting more than the usual press time.

Even though this is, clearly, the best Rutgers team ever, no coach has had to overcome as many obstacles throughout their season as had Bob Stoops. Bob may have not been the press's coach of the year but he is definitely our coach of the year!

I think Bob was relieved that he didn't win.

Missed out on a $60,000 bonus but I think he'll manage.

He did the "Bill Snyder" job on Rutgers so I can see why he won it, especially since Rutgers is now "the team of NYC". I mean, Rutgers had been "K-State bad" for a long time so that is a pretty good turnaround. He, Grobe or Stoops would have been deserving this year, better than giving it to Tressel because he had a No. 1 team all season.

If you hadn't heard of Schiano this year then you must not have watched enough ESPN this season

Yea yea....whatever......and by the way, any time I hear a guy from Long Island telling others collectively to "get over yourselves" the words "pot meet kettle" come to mind!:D
