top 10 dangerous toys.

I almost wish I could have had some of these as a kid. Oh, and the writing in this article is greatness.

My brother had the creepy crawlers. I will never forget the smell.
My father bought my sons each a three wheeler - when they were 2 and 4.
Cheapo ones, but they went about 5 mph - which is fast for a young kid leaning to drive. Good thing they had helmets.

That sort of reminds me of the Dan Aykroyd "Bag of Glass".

I had #9. They don't make 'em like that anymore (projectiles shoot about 3 inches these days).

At your age, you're probably going to want to have that prostate checked out.

we sell a lot of products in the "Bag O'" line.. like Bag O' Glass, Bag O' Nails, Bag O' Bugs, Bag O' Vipers, Bag O' Sulfuric Acid. They're decent toys, you know what I mean?

I mean, it's a creative toy, you know? If you hold this up, you know, you see colors, every color of the rainbow! I mean, it teaches him about light refraction, you know? Prisms, and that stuff! You know what I mean?

I had these when I was younger. My brother had the boys version, and we ended up aiming them at each other.

I wanted a Sonic Blaster so bad when I was a kid.

Sonic Blaster, 1966
The Mattel Agent Zero M Sonic Blaster 5530 fires compressed air with a deafening blast. Our measurements top out at 157 dB--above a level that can do permanent damage to the hearing of an adult. We rate the toy Not Acceptable.

These two sentences make me feel very old.

Lawn Darts were great. Those Battlestar Gallactica ships were pretty cool too. The best part was that you got a Hot Wheels car for every missile you mailed in. And everyone knows that Hot Wheels ruled all!

I had those too. I was a rebel though and kept my missiles, they were way cooler than Hot Wheels.

Shogun Warriors also had some neato missile launchers.

I actually didn't have one of those, but I had virtually everything else and not the toys either...I had the real damned stuff. I was in a re-enacting family so I was around the actual cannons and used to use to sword fight my friends with my dad's sabres when he wasn't around. :D

Greatness!!!

I had... 1, 3, 6 and 7.

Creepy Crawlers were the bomb... combine different color goo paint in a tray and get a multi-colored bug. Pure greatness!

I was rough as hell when I was a kid. We had these giant bamboo stick things growing in our backyard that I would get a saw and cut down and then make into giant "beating sticks." When friends came over we played this game where each of us got a stick with one person on my porch and another person on the ground. The object of the game was for the person on the ground to climb and get both feet on the porch with the other person beating the **** out of them with the stick. The object was to balance protecting yourself with your stick and beating the guy on the porch long enough to climb up.

I was dangerous with these babies...

I'd wear a football pad on my arm to lower the amount of pain and bruising...
