coaching search just fall off the first page of the football forum?

Did they just decide to not have a coach anymore?

Is no one interested in taking this job?

Does anyone else care?

They're going to wait until the Dolphin's season is over so Saban can tell them to pack sand again. Then they'll hire somebody like Paul Johnson or Jim Grobe.

All of the above. As we speak the Bama bio chemistry labs are working on gene splicing Bear's DNA into a wino HS coach they found in Mobile wearing an old houndstooth hat.

They should do what the james bond folks do, and just get someone new to play "The Bear" every few years or so. That way they don't actually have to keep looking for him every other year.

King Crimson brought this up, but I'll repeat it. AFA would be nuts not to hire Frank Solich if they can.

pretty sure grobe will decline, and johnson will already be locked in somewhere else.

bama's AD is an idiot for thinking he can get saban.

I thought they should have stuck with Shula, I thought he was a classy guy and really could have taken the program to a higher level. But the University has ADD and can't seem to concentrate on a coach for more than a week.

Here's a quote form one sportswriter --- The Dodd guy ---- :)

"Alabama has to lower its standards. The job just isn't that good, as evidenced by Rich Rodriguez, Nick Saban, etc. turning down interest.

If 'Bama could swallow its pride it should go after Wake Forest's Jim Grobe. I'm thinking he'd come for less than $5 million per year. ... "

The media in the Anne Arundel County area seem concerned that they're going to lose Johnson to either Alabama or NC State.

not a big fan here of the triple option ......... with going through the 5 (I think, might have lost count) coaches in something like 4 or 5 years, a coach is gambling a lot going there, have a couple bad games and you are fired.....

I'd take the job for a tad less than a million.
oh, and a tree fiddy buy out clause.

I don't know if thats a step up though. Well..... maybe it is. Ohio U. vs. AFA.?? Ohio U. did play for the conf. title this year. And they have A LOT of players coming back so..... it definitely up in the air. Thats a good one. I'll keep my ears to the ground on this.

This is not looking good for the Alabama program.

I agree that the 'Bama AD's standards are too high. They may have to look for a coach who hasn't yet held a HC's position.

They should interview Leach. He would win at least 7 games a year there. They should be happy with that since they are no longer an elite program.

Honestly I can't imagine anyone that isn't a service acadamy or D-1AA or lower wanting to run a triple option anymore.

i didn't connect the dots on Solich to AFA at first

i think that is a better job than Ohio though, he could probably be there til he retired. i don't know how the pay is though.

Solich didn't run Triple Option though, did he? i thought it was I Option or somesuch

^^^ No, Solich runs the Nebraska, Power I option attack.

Nebraska's power I included triple option. You can run triple option out of any formation with two backs. Heck, I've seen triple option run out of shotgun. It's a play, not a formation. It refers to the QB option of giving the ball to the fullback, keeping the ball around the end, or pitching to a back coming around end with him.

IMO if ran correctly, by a top 20 team, the Neb. power I would destroy opponents.

OU = triple option

Nebraska = power option

Sure, Nebraska ran some triple option, but was predominantly a power option running team. Just like OU ran a few ISO plays out of the I in the 80's, but that doesn't make them an I-formation pound it down your throat offense.
