in the 2A state championship game?
Should be a fun one. Undefeated Vian, who rallied from behind to beat top-ranked Davis in last week's semifinals, goes up against the Gerald Jones Express at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Broken Arrow. It will also be the only state title game left to be decided, so this should attract a good crowd.
I've been waiting for this game all week, and now we're less than 24 hours away.

Thinking about it.

I remember seeing Vian the last time they played for a state championship back in '81. Bobby Riley and Stroud beat the Wright brothers 20-7 over at Bixby. Stroud knocked their QB out of the game just before halftime, then knocked the rest of the team all over the field in the second half. Vian was the only team to score on Stroud the entire playoffs. Those Wright boys were something else though.

Vian stomped my high school (Hominy) in the semi's back in '71 behind all world Larry Briggs. He came to OU as a RB and dropped out as I recall.

We returned the favor in '92.

Can't miss it, lots of speed on the field, should be a great game.
