A friend of Mrs Mj is buying her husband a cheap set of Cleveland's. She just wants the ones that are $300. :D He's a hacker like me so it probably doesn't matter which set she gets, but the shaft (shut it) style might.

The guy is a high handicapper and in his early 50's. I always heard that "older" players would probably benefit most from graphite shafts so that's what I would recommend to her.

Agree? Disagree?

Kinda depends more on his playing style than this age.

Does he generate decent club head speed? Because if so, then he shouldn't need the graphite and may not like them if he has never played with them before.

However, if he is slowing down in his old age, the graphites can definitely make it easier to get better results with a slower swing and they are lighter so that helps as well.

I've only met the guy once and I've never seen him play golf so I don't know. He's not that great so I would guess he probably would lean to the slower swing side but that's a total guess. If she's going to get the actual clubs, I'm thinking graphite but I told her she may just want to get a gift certificate so he can get what he wants and get fitted for them.

I think Pat likes teh Don Williams. Which is good because he's some good stuff.
