Hadn't ever been there before (except once for lunch before i was 21) but I went there with a couple of friends tonight. Swirls are tasty.

I've never been a big fan of the Mont. I had always suspected them of cheating me on my tab so I took a pen with me once and made a tick mark everytime I got a new beer. I was right, they tried to charge me for about 4 extra beers. Bastages.

It wasn't really my type of a crowd either.

I've never seen that Schmidts( I think) beer served anywhere else. It's in a red can and has a panther or something on it.

Here's a theory on beer that has never been proved wrong:

If a beer has the German "ess-se-hah" "sch" construction in its name, it sucks.

Schaeffer.
Schmidts.
Busch.
Grolsch. And yes, Grolsch sucks. You just don't think it does because you're a wannabe preppy.

was in The Mont yesterday for the first time in forever....they've got a new, enclosed smoking section around the bar....

does a nice job of segregating the unhealthy drunks away from the square drunks

German beer is a lot like German cars. A whole bunch of dimwits like it/them.

The worst Irish or English beer is better than the best German beer.

I was one of the sexy bus boys there in the eighties (and also a bar back) This was pre-swirl machine and the Bar redo. It was a fun place to work and we never cheated people on their tabs. When I poured for the regulars, I always gave an extra two count. (Don't tell Crow or he will come after me)

It's basically Hite Light, but has a better taste to me. Not a water down taste like american light beers

Mmmm...Hite beer. I'm on a conference call with Korea now and man I wish I had a Hite now. Technical conference calls are teh succ...;) At least with the mute button I can view the innerweb and still listen in.

The LITs on the other hand, will still get you really sauced.

Do they really make their LITs or is all the liquor poured from the same bottle? Brother's tried that crap on me once. Just another reason to throat punch Keith.

I can usually tell where the main concentration of liquor is so I'd venture a guess that says they do it the old fashioned way. The premade stuff is usually weak and mixed pretty well.

I pretty much stopped going to Brothers after one night PrideTrombone and I were in there and after 45 minutes no one had even asked us if we wanted anything to drink. Granted, we joined a large group that was already there, but two guys with no drinks in front of them should stick out to anyone working.

a few years ago i bought a 24 case of Hacker-pschorr oktoberfest liter bottles on sale for some ridiculous cheap price at the local liquor barn. that was big living.

i also don't think Grolsch is german. i kinda like G because inna day i was riding the trains around italy and spain and having a couple of those with the resealable ceramic top in yer pack was a good thing. at the very least it's unique.

Grolsch isn't German. The "ess-se-hah" phoneme is Germanic. Anything with that phoneme sucks.

And I've never had Hacker-Pschorr. But I bet it sucks.

OK, first of all the new "segregated smoking" section sucks all ***. They spent a gazillion dollars building it just because they didn't want to **** off the four regulars who live every afternoon at the bar, smoking like chimneys. Other than the smoking, I always loved sitting at the bar there. Now it's a little enclosed nicotine chamber. I'm out. Plus, it looks like crap in the restaurant, and makes it feel clausterphobic and dark.

As for the food, the queso at the mont is the best in the OKC metro, bar none. Also, I have much love for the Miguel's club. And yes, I know Miguel is one of the daytime bar regulars.

As for Brothers, I'm also keen on throat-punching Keith. What a tool. My best story is when my ex-wife and I (at that time she was my girlfriend) went there with some old friends of hers. She and I made it an early evening and tabbed out; they stayed for a few more drinks. A few weeks later, their food and drinks show up on OUR credit card statement. We call Keith, and he says our friends left about two hours later and walked their tab. Now, is it possible that they did? Sure. But I sincerely doubt it. They swore they left cash, which I'm guessing walked off or was pocketed by staff. I didn't know her friends well, but they were childhood friends of hers, and she trusted very much that they were telling the truth. Even so, we tabbed TWO FREAKING HOURS BEFORE THEY LEFT. I was incredulous. Finally after quite a bit of argument, Keith took the charge off, which we were disputing anway. But frankly, I felt like that type of thing bordered on credit card fraud. Maybe I'm wrong.

But yeah, I agree Keith needs a good throat punch.
