I've just been informed by my friend that I will be "getting dressy" for NYE.

This is annoying on so very many levels, not least of which is that I thought the whole point of being single was that you didn't get ordered around by any wimmins.

Oh well, time to figure out how dressy is "dressy" for a house party...

Are you sure she said "dressy" or "dressed"? If it is the latter, it might be implying something. Oh, and if it is the latter, you should ask "before or after"?

"Dressy" is a direct quote.

Of course, the next part of that direct quote is "cause I am going in the most kickin' skimpy *ss formal you have ever seen," so it's not ALL bad.

Three words.

Suit.
Up.
Bitch.

If a New Year's Eve party is dressy, a suit and tie is minimum. Then again, dressy to me means a tad higher than semi-formal.

It's the holidays, damn it. Act like you love the Baby New Year.

My outfit for the company Christmas party: Charcoal suit with maroon pinstripes, maroon shirt, black snakeskin shoes and belt, white tie. Straight medium pimpin'. People kept calling me Don Miguel and asking for favors.

PHONE-FIVE!

I know when you don't phone-five, Mike.

Anyway, that's what I'm leaning towards, because I so rarely have opportunities to suit up.

Oh, and any chance of hitting that depends on a very complex set of circumstances taking place that include (but are not limited to) "hell freezing over" "a metor hurtling towards the Earth, resulting in everyone having 30 minutes to live", and "partial memory loss, given that the partial memory that is lost is the memory in charge of reminding us that we've known each other over 15 years now and us doing it would be 'weird'".

OK, so what does "festive attire" entail? That's what the invite said for my company's Christmas party on saturday...i need to know what to wear and what to tell my date to wear...

festive sounds like they want something 'bright and cheery' that is in tune with the 'season'. That being said, I'd be hard pressed to not wear a black suit with black shirt and black tie ;)

"Festive" means "stuff that's nice enough to be business wear, but with brighter colors or more eccentric cuts than you'd wear at the office." For example, a purple suit is festive.

soonerbrat
12/14/2006, 11:34 AM

Frozen Sooner
12/14/2006, 11:35 AM
Nothing can kill the Grimace.

I wasn't suggesting YOU wear a purple suit, just giving an example of festive wear.

A sparkly dress that shows off the stems would be good.

BeetDigger
12/14/2006, 12:14 PM
Brat - I'm thinking tassles on top and nothing else. A mini-skirt on the bottom. That should be a very festive outfit, and should ensure many an invite to future parties.

In fact, ample cleavage can even eclipse physical and personality defects. If I was a girl and had bazoombas, I wouldn't wear anything without a scoop neck.;)
