That's too bad. I can't think of anything I ever saw him in that I didn't like. I saw him recently in an old X-Files episode. Good stuff.

Heh - I'd forgotten about that one. My favorite X-Files ever.

My favorite of course was Young Frankenstein but he was also great in The Dream Team.

Greatness as the dad in Everybody Loves Raymond.

My favorite line of his character in that show: "Marie, what the hell?!?!? Come back to the house and fix me some lunch!! I'm feelling pot-roasty."

Those two had some of the most memorable moments in the show, RIP big guy.:(

My favorite of his ELR lines was while Ray, Robert and he were watching a basketball game on TV:

Frank (watching the game): Alright, move your ***!
Ray (motioning that Debra had come into the room): Hey, dad, come on.
Frank: Oh, sorry. Step lively!

When I think of Peter Boyle I'll always primarily think of him in Young Frankenstein, but a close second will be as Jocko Dundee in Johnny Dangerously.

If you ever get a chance check out the 1970 movie "Joe". Peter Boyle plays Joe a working man "Archie Bunker" type except his character is not very humorous. The story starts out with "Joe" ranting in a bar about how he hates hippies and how he'd like to kill one. An advertising executive sitting next to him mutters that he did kill one. Joe hears his comment and the story goes on from there.

Despite his greatness on ELR, I always think of him in Johnny Dangerously when he was holding the toilet handle after an explosion.

His more dramatic roles were really good, too. Taxi Driver, Outland, The Candidate...

A bit of irony, in his last film released before his death, he played Father Time.
