It's a lot more complicated than that.

Aren't those the apartments just west of Cheyenne? Aren't they gonna flatten that for a parking garage?

I'm not sure where they are other than "near" the arena that they're building and probably in a fairly prime spot for future development.

Better yet, condemn the arena and move it someplace in the city that doesn't suck.

I know, that thing is an eye sore. The neighborhood next to it have been bitching for a while to tear it down.

Have you come up with an alternate location that is less retarded than Brookside?

how about letting some of us down here in God's Country know what you guys from up there in Craptown (you know, the one with the suburbs named FootballCheatingTown) are talking about.

They're building a new arena to hold all of the gold balls. Keep up.

this kind of **** is always complicated. I hate eminent domain for all the obvious reasons, but if this dude is hurting the city economically in an attempt to profiteer, that sucks also.

can't someone just give this dude his $2million?

bri

Well, we could always rename them the "Unsold Independence Bowl Tickets" Apartments. Then T. Boone Pickens would buy it and give it to poor aggy students.

The City isn't buying it I don't think....he had a contract with some private development entity and for whatever reason, the $2 million sale did not go through. I don't know what the problem is really but any development around the arena area isn't going to happen with that POS in the middle of it.

How bout on 15th street, near yale?

Oh wait, got an arena and stadium(s) there too.

Damn. Looks like we have to put it by the jail, courthouse and bus station after all.

Again, the jail is 6 blocks from the arena site. And even if it was right next door, who cares? The jail isn't half bad looking. :D

Fixed.

And that Drillers stadium is still fantastic, obstructed views, antiquated restrooms, and no real "premium" seats.

and whoooo boy. I'm sure that everyone will be just dying to play the pavilion, I mean...who doesn't love a 6,000 seat arena where the permanent seating is so far away from the court you feel like you are in a museum, 2 or 3 restrooms, and two concession stands.

Good for the owner dude, hopefully it can be developed now to the benefit of all parties.

And they ought to give those two homeless people a reward instead of a jail sentence. :D

Either way, they will be REALLY close to the arena. ;)

Is it just me or does this whole thing seem a little fishy?....A building set in a deadlock between future developers and a greedy/stubborn owner suddenely burns down due to two homeless people and is consequently torn down. Im not saying anybody may have offered those two large sums of money to burn it down and take a temporary fall but, no, I am saying that.

I bet you were one of the people who was actually ****ed when TU built an on campus basketball arena.

Why? Because it's not in Owasso?

I bet you were one of the people who was actually ****ed when TU built an on campus basketball arena.

Why would that bother me? They were building it when I was going to TU and I thought it was great, hell I even played at the ground breaking ceramony now that I think about it. Great location as well, we needed it badly.

Of course the TU people were smart and built it close to where all the TU people are. This idea must have just blew Bri and others away, building it near where people are. Holy **** who woulda thunk it.

If only the Tulsa city people were as smart as the TU people, they wouldn't have to be thanking homeless pyromaniacs for bailing their asses out of one of the many cluster****s they have gotten themselves into with this arena.

BTW, they still planning on using USED seats for this "one of a kind (http://www.city-data.com/cpicv/vfiles2874.jpg)" architectural marvel???? I guess it won't matter it they aren't used that much.
