...now that we have seen most of the non-conference schedule played out, what do you guys see happening with order of finish and postseason bids??
1. Texas- Once the young guys gel, watch out-ncaa
2. a&M- Took no. 1 ucla down the the wire on road-ncaa
3. kANSAS-I think they will struggle at times but end up strong-ncaa
4. Ok. State-young team with lots of promise-ncaa
5. Mizzou-with league being so young, their pressure D could win them some games-ncaa/nit-on the fence
6. K. state-when they get bill walker, they could be good-ncaa/nit fence
7. Baylor-A year away I think-nit
8. Iowa State-nit
9. Ou-Capel needs one more good recruiting class to get in the ncaa I think-nit
10. Tech-nit
11. Nebraska-new coach is good, talent level is bad
12. Colorado-horrible

I still think we will beat Kansas.

That would be very Kansas-like to lose @ LNC.

I can't see OU winning more than 5 games in conference play.

I say we will be 8th...and i'd be shocked if the big 12 gets more than 5 teams in the tourney.

I say we finish 5-3 at home and 3-5 on the road. 8-8 overall in the Big 12; probably better than most expected. I also think we'll finish 9-4 out of conference.

That would leave us at 17-12 before the Big 12 Tourney. Not too bad.

NCAA Tourney Bound

1. KU
2. A&M
3. TEX
4. OSU

On NCAA bubble/NIT

5. Tech ....not based on right now but I bet they improve the most
6. Baylor ...will flirt with NCAA tourney

NIT Bound
7. K-State ...
8. Missouri ... not really sold on MU, have only one good win against Ark and Purdue bent them over pretty good, but they get OU in Columbia and a North schedule
9. OU right on NIT bubble...could see the team getting as high as 7th as low as 10th.

WILL MISS POSTSEASON
10. ISU
11 Neb
12 Colo could be a 1-15 team.

Nebraska must be pretty loaded to finish 7th and 10th in the same year.

We'll have to get a lot better very quickly if we're gonna finish above 8th.

methinks:

1. KU (North schedule)
2. ATM (wins tournament)
T4: OSU, UT

all four to NCAA

Missouri on bubble to be the possible 5th Big XII team.

Tech, Baylor, NU, OU, KSU (if Walker is as good as advertised) possible NIT teams.

ISU: bad

Colorado: really bad.

though I hate to say it, after watching TT beat up on Arkansas today I think they will place 5th or better in conference, KU will probably win the conference but will lose the tourney to either aTm or UT.

Capel will have to get the team playing much better defense and more confidence on offense for OU to finish any better than 8th over all. I see Baylor, (you can't spell suck w/o)KSU and Colorado finishing behind OU and perhaps ISU as well if OU can show improvement.

Oh wait... did I forget about OSU? ...O S Who?

Missouri beat up on Arkansas too. maybe the Hogs just aren't any good. Stan Heath has never impressed me as a game coach, FWIW.

Arkansas did the WORST thing a college program can do. They spotted a coach coming off a slightly fluky big run in the tourney (Kent St.) and they pounced all over their head coach. Every time a small program makes a run in the Big Dance, that coach becomes hot prospect number one. In some ways, it makes sense, but I much prefer the approach Castiglione took to hiring Capel. He dug a little deeper than just last year's brackets. Going with a Capel type is a bit more risky, but I also think the rewards can be greater.
