I did a quick search, and couldn't find the thread, but it had a link in it where you could type in the year, and it would give you the winningest football program back to that time. We were #1 going back like 75 years or something. If you're smarter than the average bear, you could probably pull it up, but winningest team in the 2000's doesn't really give us the credit we deserve. (granted it is the most recent decade, but our dominance goes way back! As I'm sure you're aware.) :D

Who would've thought Oklahoma would be the winningest program of the 2000's after the 1999 season? Not many, I s'pose.

Heh, I'm not sure this is something to be that proud of considering we're 5-5 vs those opponents (with all 5 wins being against Texas). :O

I felt a hell of a lot better about it after the 1999 season than I did the 1998 season. I actually felt we'd be a top 10 team in 2000 after the 99 season.

You have to go all the way back to 1933 before Oklahoma moves down from #1 to #2. Ohio St. takes over the #1 spot in 1933.

What kind stats are you talking about?

We have only been the #1 team of ONE DECADE, the 50's.
And we currently are #1.

Top winning %

50's: OU
60's: Alabama
70's: Alabama
80's:Nebraska
90's: Florida State
00's: OU

And we barely make the the Top 10 in All-Time wins. We are like #9.

he's not looking at only decades. He's talking about win% taken from present backawards one year at a time.

I hope that we will one day have a flow chart feature on this board to make this stuff easier for people.

Boise has only played 237 games in that span of history. OU played 640 for comparison.

And Notre Dame is 11th on that list.

To make it even simpler throw out Boise State, TCU and any current Big East team because there winning percentage in reality means jack squat.

Boise State won't be in another BCS Bowl Game for atleast another 20 years or more, TCU still hasn't been in one, and UOFL and the bunch won't win a BCS NC pretty much ever.

Michigan would then come in at #9, Florida and Auburn would be tied at #10.

OU, USC and Miami-FLA are the only schools in that category with 4 confrence championships.

Miami-FLA however hasn't won a confrence championship since 2003 in the old Big East and hasn't been back in a bcs bowl game since that time period too. There program is definately on a down slide, possibly a losing record this year.

Oklahoma and Southern California are the only schools in the 2000's, 7 Years to play in 5 BCS Bowl Games.

Oklahoma is the only school to play in 3 BCS NC GAMES.

Further more if OU can find a competent qb out of the 3 they will have on campus in the spring they will be able to finish the decade out just as strong as they began with a BCS NC and another BCS Bowl atleast(Only 3 seasons worth left 07-08, 08-09 and 09-10 to solidify themselves as the premier program of the 00-01 all the way through 09-10 10 seasons worth.

Thank about that, by that time all the 5, 6 and 7 years olds at the beggining of the 2000's that just started watching college football will be HS Sophmores, HS JR's, and HS SR's.

Therefore clearly erasing OU's run from 88-99 when they had the 39th best winning percentage in cfb, NO Top 4 bowls, always finishing 3rd or lower in the Big 8 under Gibbs always losing to NU, CU and UT, 4 seasons without going to a bowl game, Schnelly, Blake and the first year under Stoops going to the Independence.

Southern Cal has 5 conference titles (2002-2006)

Oklahoma is not the only school to play in 3 BCS title games.
Florida State played in 3 as well (1998-2000).

Another interesting feat: Oklahoma and Miami are the only teams to play in all 4 BCS bowls now that OU will be in Fiesta.

I meant in the 2000's for Oklahoma is the only team to play in 3 BCS title games for this decade.

Also I don't consider USC as pac 10 champs in 02, seeing as how Washington St and USC both finished 7-1 in confrence, and Washington St beat USC 30-27 that year.

Cal finished tied with USC in the Pac 10 this year, I don't consider them Pac 10 champs either do you seeing has How Cal lost to USC.
