I was reading a Bama board where they were discussing the possibility of getting Bob to Bama. The mentioned that Stoops' record is now 86-18.

Will his record reach 100 wins or 20 losses first?

Looking at this makes Switzer's 29 losses look absolutely amazing.

If we win the FB, he'll be 87-18 in 8 years.

(Two botched calls away from being 89-15...not whining...stating facts)

At 87-18, we'd need to go at least 13-1 in '07 for that to happen....which leads us back to the quarterback situation.

And yeah, Switz's record is incredible.

Assuming that we win the Fiesta, which we are all confident about. I guess the question is do we lose 2 games next year? If so, then he reaches the 20 losses first. If not, then the 100 wins is first.

I gotta say 100 wins with good QB play next year. If we get bad QB play next year, Bob may get to 25 losses before 100 wins. I'm thinking, with a bad QB, we may go... 8-4 reg season.

He's 86-18 right now.

When you say: "Two botched calls" I assume that you mean Oregon & TT. (2 games right?)

Wouldn't that be 88-16?

Maybe I had my gazintas mixed up?

Uh, yeah. Did you really just say that? :D

Switzer didn't lose a game as a Head Coach until his 3rd year

Speaking of rediculous, Bud had a stretch of 94-4. There were a few ties in there, I can't remember, 3 or 4 I think

Even with mediocre QB play, I don't see four losses next year.

I didn't know Les Miles had a ring tone.

Thanks. I'm here all week. :D

I agree. No matter who is under center, they'll be talented, well coached(Heupel, Wilson, Stoops), and will have a GREAT supporting cast on offense. After glancing over our schedule, I say we're looking at somewhere in the range of 11-2, 12-1 or 13-1. The schedule is looking really favorable.

If we get Hybl -type production from our QB(55-60 completion %,even td to int ratio minimum,2000 +yards) we should be able to go no WORSE than 10-2 regular season.I use Hybl as comparison because his first year numbers are at the low end of the Bob Stoops era qb list(ok Bonehead was lower but he is banished from mention ,much like Benedict Ryal).

The o-line is talented, veteran, deep, ditto the rWRs,Tes,RBs.Add to that equal talent on defnse and whoever the QB next year is he will be able to grow into the job.Last year and even this year OUr QB had a lot more on his shoulders.Barring catastrophic injuries Bob will reach 100 wins before20 losses.

If it hadn't been for the '99 season, and him having to fix all the positioning of players that Blake left, he'd have a lot better record.

Remember, Barry, as great as he was, inherited a solid team and system. Bob took what he got, and molded it. The contrast between '98 and '00 has to be the one of the biggest turnarounds in college football history.

It'll be interesting when 2010 gets here to look back and compare 1990-1999 with 2000-2009.

Now that Bob is 86-19, the heat is turned up a little.
Anyone care to weigh in with new predictions?

He'd better reach 93 before he hits 20, that's all I'm saying. :D

Switzer was great.

But after reading The Undefeated, Bud was amazingly great.
Oklahoma owes that man for building our program. He's the true 'King'.

normally I would not get involved in threadjacking but since the dee has been donrlet me add my two cents.NO list of great coaches at OU can rightfully exist without Bennie Owen. Not only does he have a career record of 122-54-16 which places him third all-time at OU,36 games a head of Bob btw,he was also AD at OU.In his spare time he posted a record of 113-49as basketball coach AND a record of 142-102 -4 as baseball coach. In addition he also lead the fundraising for the first part of what is Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.Personally I think he has done MORE than enough to be a Sooner Legend.BTW returning to the original subject,I thnk Bob hits 100 before 20 as I am predicting NC #8 this year and a 14-0 record. Then again I have been wrong before(about 19 times) when predicting OU wins in the last 8 years.

So - was THIS the thread that jinxed the Fiesta Bowl for us?

If so, I vote its conspirators be baned - for at least, say, one hour.
