More renovations for Hook 'em... their stadium will be bigger than ours

I WANT 90,000! put a second tier on the North Endzone!!

Texas kicks off $176M renovation of end zone area
Associated Press

AUSTIN -- The University of Texas began demolishing the 80-year-old north end zone section of Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Friday to make way for new seating and academic space in a $176 million renovation project.

Crews used heavy machinery to rip out brick and a wrecking ball to smash concrete in the north end zone seating, which was added to the stadium in 1926. The facility was dedicated Texas Memorial Stadium in 1924 to veterans of World War I.

Plans call for construction of a multipurpose area with a veteran's memorial plaza, an academic center and street-level food and retail areas.

With temporary seating in the south end zone for the 2006 season, stadium capacity was about 85,000. Capacity will be more than 90,000 once the new, permanent seating in the north end zone is finished.

School officials said the lower level should be finished in time for the 2007 season and the entire project should be completed before the 2008 season.

They'll have the 2nd most expensive end zone in the Big XII now.

They can put 100,000 texans in there, but it will never be as loud as our 85,000.

They are notorious for showing up late, being quiet when the chips are down, and leaving early when they are behind - thus their propaganda shirts that say:

"Come Early, Be Loud, & Stay late" - or something along those lines.

You don't have to make shirts for Sooner fans to tell them how to be a fan - we do that without being told.

Pure texan - bigger MUST be better

To be fair, OU fans have been ripped for being quiet in the not-so-distant past. Although I think they have pretty much shed that label in the past couple of years.

You'd think they would spend that money on a quality coaching staff, then they wouldn't choke so much.

If they wanted more seats, they should have done what eATMe did and just moved the seat stickers closer together.

I'll admit that I'm curious to see if aggy follows this up with a brand new "retractable" lid for the Tackle Box in Poochville. Can you imagine how big the latches are gonna be on that mutha?

They will probably respond by adding yet another deck.

No, they'll just put fans in seats OVER the field, kinda like the seats in the "hanging" rollercoasters.

No! No! No!
He was talking about the games that lead up to securing you an invitation to BCS games.

We know you guys have only been to a BCS bowl a couple of times this decade, so it may take you a while to catch on.

It only took them 80+ years to get the end zone stands closer than 40 yards away from the field.

You should probably just focus on not going 0-1 in the Alamo bowl.

Here's what bugs me about OUr stadium:

You are allotted ~12" for your butt. Why oh why can't they install fixed seats like the ones at the Bricktown Ballpark? I know it would cut capacity, but nothing I hate more than some salad eater who just got off the ab machine sitting on me or my wife by taking up 2 1/2 seats with his gut/butt combo.

I'd pay double for my season tickets if they would put seats in rather than the benchs.

Now I know they won't do this because it would cut capacity down. But I can dream!
