i give it that they've always had a crimsonish and white color scheme and such.....but a couple a years ago in the Matt Jones era they were wearing goofball Tron unis. so, someone, in Fayetteville and Adidas made a conscious decision to suck up Nike and look exactly like us.

Don't tell me you haven't seen McFadden highlights and thought....that's us.

that was lame too. but, to their "credit" they went to crimson face masks after the one joke of a copycat year. and they used to have a helmet logo that they stole from the band Urge Overkill logo. they are sinking fast most of the time.

The real goofball Tron unis the Hogs wore actually was back in 1994. Apex (remember them?) designed the unis, which featured the running hog logo on both shoulders (sort of like the Dallas Cowboys' double star jerseys back in the day). They were gawd-awful, and it wasn't a surprise that they lasted only one season before being shelved forever.

Indiana made some changes this year uni-wise, they don't look so much like us anymore. Arkansas; however, looks very close.

I went to some games in Fayetteville in late 1960's, and I must say, they looked like OU before OU looked like we do now. Seeing as how Barry and McKenzie came from Arkansas, a case could be made that they went for the Arkie look. What year did we change from white to red helmets?

i hear ya swardboy, there's always been some similarity. my point is that *someone* at Arkansas in the last couple years made a *conscious* decision to look like us. look at the pics above of Matt Jones. they were changing uni's all over the place....so to me they lose cred. and, you can't go the Nike excuse....because their unis are Adidas.

OU went to the crimson helmet in 1966--with Mackenzie, post-Gomer Jones.

I think our first year with the crimson helmets was '66, I know we were wearing them when we played Tenn. in the 67 Orange Bowl.

Plus they are about 2 thousand miles away...we can cut them some slack....Arkansas is just to damn close to be wearing our uniforms....

Word, the copycat pants are a dead give away. Not that there are that many styles of pants, but they definitely changed to our style.

It doesn't bother me. Why should it? If we play em they'll just wear white. There's only so many colors and styles anyway.

I think the conscious decision by Arkansas to copy us this year paid off. They played better than they've played in the past 10 years this year.

Similarly, the Arkansas exchange to OU back in '66 resulted in the establishment of the second dynasty.

In this way, I find that we have some kind of parallel universe thing going on with the piggies. I love when they beat saxet. That alone makes them worthy in my book. I think their talent level will increase over the course of the next 2-3 years, due to their success emulating the Sooners. The rule should be against us ever playing them, to avoid a disruption of the space-time continuum.

I'm glad McFadden won the Doak. AD missed too much of the season to win it, and I wasn't particularly keen on any of the other candidates.

I'm p!$$ed that Hartley didn't win the Groza. If he had made the block at Oregon, he would have won it hands down. He had the best % in the league, he's only missed one XP, and he was the deciding factor in a few games this year that pushed us to the Big XII CCG and the Fiesta Bowl. What did the Louisville kid do?

A teams look is part of their identity. I dont know how they could feel comfortable stealing the Sooners uniform design. Have they no shame? They really need to come up with their own.

What Arkansas has done is just part of the natural selction process of evolution. One of the phenomena in this process occurs when a weak animal(Arkansas) attempts to mimic a strong, powerful animal(OU) in an attempt to confuse it's enemies and prolong it's survival.

Or we could use the classic Superman-Bizzaro Superman comparison as another example.
