a laptop?

I'd have no problem doing it with an ATX PC, but I assume it's a different ballgame with laptops. I've never owned one, and don't know anything about them. The reason I ask is because my F.I.L. got charged $80 in labor for this.

If you can do everything you gotta do after you put in a new hard drive, you can change a HDD on a laptop.

It's easy cheesy. Usually a screw or two, and bingo.

replacing the hard disk itself...its like a 5 second operation.

re-loading everything that was on the old HD onto the new one.

that takes a little more time.

Im having a hard time with myself trying real hard not to make a copy cat thread of this threads hard topic.
Im just not up to a banning until after the football season.

Couldnt you have had this problem in about 5 weeks?

Do it!!!

Oh, and my F-I-L says he didn't even need the old HD stuff loaded onto the new one. I bet he needed the operating system, tho.

They charged him $80 for the drive and $80 for labor.

sounds to me like the time an old gf of mine had some guy at the Saab dealership charge her an hour labor to replace a headlight bulb. which i could have done in 10 minutes.

10 minutes = 1 hour in Mechanic Time, no?

61 minutes = 2 hours, and so on.
