...biggest outdoor New Years celebrations in the country...I went last year and it was wild and awesome...all down Mill Avenue to Tempe Town Lake, great party followed by great fireworks....worth attending Sooners...

how far away is that from scottsdale and glendale? my buddy lives in scottsdale and that's where we'll be staying. he said it's only 30 minutes from glendale

In the valley, Glendale is pretty far northwest, Tempe is somewhat central to east, Scottsdale is North central east...

sounds like it's better than NOLA

we went through there for NYE before the OB in 2004/2005... kind of a letdown

I went the year of the Pitt / Utah State game - it was okay, reminded me of the west end prior to OU/texas. Better hope they have a band better than Smash Mouth

It won't be 80...bring jackets and stuff folks. It cools off here at night. The high this weekend is supposed to be in the 60's.

I must be getting old. Going to any event with 100,000 people, that doesn't involve a stadium, has no appeal to me whatsoever. Parking will be a disaster. I've never called a cab on New Year's Eve before, but I would imagine wait times could be measured in hours around midnight.

NOLA's not even close to Tempe for NYE. It's a freaking blast.

You could be right....the 2 biggest signs of age are

1) not doing anything because of the weather.

2) not doing anything because of traffic.
