View Full Version : Alabama may be needing an intervention (I-Bowl line)

This morning, I saw that Oklahoma State is, um, . . . FAVORED against 'Bama.

So, if anyone sees Alabama at the office or at the grocery store, please say a kind word. We need to pull together and look out for Alabama's emotional well-being. We might need to have someone sneak into Alabama's house and remove all the firearms and sharp implements and dangerous substances.

by the time the game rolls around, Bama fans will be too distracted with the Rich Rodriguez rumors to even notice they are underdogs.

Why would we worry?

They're going to win the "We got beat by a team that wears orange" Foundation National Title. They're going to be busy printing shirts and stuff.

Some people on here need to give it a rest. I'm still not sure why OU fans on this board seem to be so obsessed with Alabama's NCs. You can't go a day on here without seeing, "Bama will award themselves another MNC". People tend to forget that championships WERE won before the AP poll was instituted. Also, during the early AP years, certain polls were deemed as the "major" polls of that time (much like the USA Today poll of today in addition to the AP). Nobody ever seems to have an issue with USC or ND national titles which is the same thing. Just because some titles were won pre-1950, doesn't make them non-worthy. Who won those early championships anyway if they're not "good enough" polls to be considered championships? Apparently that means no championships were won PERIOD. Just my 2 cents since I'm a fan of both OU and Bama.

Yes, but there are consensus, recognized NCs and then there are the fru-fru titles given out by Tom, Dick and Harry. If OU claimed all the "titles" handed out, they'd have up to 23. However, they have 7 recognized national titles. Therein lies the diff, and the butt of jokes for Bama - they make no distinction.

Well, the difference there is that both USC and Alabama have legitimate tradition that is worthy of respect. When they do silly things like count national titles from organizations that award them retroactively it's sort of jarring.

Plains aggies awarding themselves national titles is just aggie being aggie.

Sure. USC decided a few years ago that they had another national championship based on "research."

The Football Research people have retroactively decided that several teams "should" have won national titles, and some are claimed.

I believe Parke Davis' system was also in the business of awarding retroactive national championships.

Billingsley has awarded several retroactive national championships.

True. With 'Bama generally what we've made fun of is the rather, shall we say, tenuous credibility of some of the granting organizations.

I just count titles won while African Americans were allowed to attend the institution. Institutionalized discrimination taints records since some schools even refused to play others that attempted to get past the racist policies that haunted the country. Sadly, in the revealing "documentary" 'Forrest Gump' Alabama would allow retarded students on campus, but not African Americans.

Hey, as a Bama fan, I don't like to hear anything bad from our sister school and fellow wearer of the Crimson. I don't think that Bama wants to go after your coach, and I sincerely hope that we don't try that. Not that I don't think that he is a great coach. It's just that I associate him with the sooners and like it that way. I was hoping that you guys would be on our schedule soon, since we had such great visits a few years ago, and we want to beat him on the field, because we haven't been able to do that. So please you guys don't be mad at the Bama fans, because I really don't think that this is something that we want to do.

JMHO - Any Coach worth his Salt would think More than Twice even to consider trying to put Humdey Dumbey back together again....You've screwed up Big time and there's No easy Quick Fix out there .....
