The Twister thread got me to thinking.

you guys remember John Anderson? white boy safety out of Texas, Sugarland I believe. He was a tough, hard hitter. always seemed to make a play.

He was a Gibbs guy. I don't think he ever played for Blake.

you sure? hmm I thought he was there at least one year with Blakey. maybe, just maybe my memeory has been erased from those years. which is a good thing.

Yep. Just checked SoonerStats. John Anderson's senior year was 1994.

ok, let's throw in the Gibbs and Schnelly year too because I have some serious brain Fog.

I thought Terry Ray (son of former Sooner stud Darrel) was ok but he sure gave up the underneath stuff a lot. I know he had a decent pro career with the Patriots.

Oo. Jarrail Jackson.

Ahmed Kabba, although he quit before playing for Stoops, was a pretty cool guy. He used to get on the old unofficial board and jaw with us.

Stephen Alexander.

Jermaine Fazande-actually made it to the League with the Bolts.

Gumbo had some good games. I don't count Jarrail and Brandon Daniels simply because they were better with Stoops.:D
btw-Jarrail was a stud in arena ball for Tulsa for a few years.

Who was coach when Beavers was playing?

The Ensuing Kickoff
12/4/2006, 11:21 PM
Gibbs. Beavers beat a buddy of mine up and assaulted me, too, outside Tulio's the week before graduation May 1993.

This has already been the subject of litigation and discussion on boards like this one.

I thought I remembered some legal trouble and a very short pro career.

Who was coach when Beavers was playing?
Gibby.

The Beav picked up a fumble @ Colorado in '92 and took it to the house. we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in that game.
I also recall Dewell Brewer turning on the frickin jets on a draw play in that game.

Does he still have that restaurant in Midwest City? There on Sooner?

Great atmosphere. Too bad the food sucked.

Stephen Alexander. He's a guy that goes about his job and doesn't care if you know who he is. He been a ProBowl TE and many of our newer fans have no idea who he is. He actually likes it that way. He'd rather talk to you about motocross or dirt bike racing than football.

Good call about Stephen Alexander. I was at the Broncos/Seahawks game last night and he made a great catch of a not-so-great pass for a TD. He's very popular with the more enlightened Bronco fans up here.

I actually got to see mini-Corey at Moore. He was a stud as a running back and d-back for the Lions.

Matt Anderson was another one.

funny thing, he won the 3 must win games his first year.

Never played for Blake. Went out after his junior year under ***************.

And by "Went out" I mean "Ran for a bunch of yards in the OOC schedule, then stopped going to class because he thought he'd be a first-rounder."

In that case:

Aubrey Beavers
Tyrell Peters
Albert Hall

PJ Mills
Brent DuQuasie
Stirling Luckey, I think, would have been a good one had he not followed his pecker to Concordia of Wisconsin. One of my high school buddies ended up playing with him there.

I always had a soft spot for Martin Chase. I remember that he always made a point to come over and talk to the fans after the away games.

I believe Demond Parker may have been the best running back ever at OU, but he played on such terrible teams.

Gana Joseph.

speaking of gana joseph.

i had my psychiatric clinical at st. anthony's a few weeks back and mike woods (add that name to the list) works there.

he said joseph was BETTER than TRRW.

i chuckled.

he was serious.

I don't know about that, but Gana had all sorts of natural ability. If he had just had a competent DB coach in his career, he would have been a terror.

Didn't Kelly Gregg lead the team in tackles one year, i can't think of another D-Lineman who ever even came that close!!

Rodney Rideau, Midwest City, good job Rodney.

(John Blake must have said that a hundred times during his coaches show).

Also...

Stockar McDougle
Scott Kempenich
Frank Romero

I think they all started under Blake at least one year.

And don't forget the quadruple threat of...

Eric Moore
Jake Sills
Justin Fuente
Patrick Fletcher

...so much talent we had a hard time getting it all on the field

My favorite blake player didnt become my favorite until 2000...

however, JT Thatcher came and stood in front of the band and just listened on more than one occasion. Games that I seem to remember him doing this were Tech, Baylor, and the CCG in 2000.

DeMond Parker, I feel kinda bad for the guy. I don't think anyone can blame him for getting the hell out as soon as he could though. Boo kept running him into the ground. I did read somewhere not to long ago that he said in retrospect he regrets it now. He said he wished he could have played under a real coach like stoops.

If Demond would've stayed, imagine how much more fun that 1st year would've been for us to watch. Probably would've won a game or two more as well.
