As far as I am concerned the place to buy tickets is Ebay. By the way OU is sitting on the East side which is the visitors side of the stadium according to the Fiesta Bowl web page.

There are already people in PHX scrambling to sell tix at face value since the matchups were announced. Brokers buy HUGE chunks of tix here and after the matchups were announced, they are figuring on there being demand for only about half of the tix. They are going to dump Fiesta tix and gouge on Nat'l Champ game tix. During tailgating, fans should be able to by upper deck seats for $75 or less and lower level seats for $125 or less.

My dad, my brother, and I will be coming out. I'm looking forward to meeting up with any/all SoonerFans.

I nominate Soonersam for the "Official Fiesta Bowl Ambassador". You will be in charge of setting up the tailgate, pre/post game festivities. You're welcome. :D

I will be there with my girlfriend and my best friend and his girlfriend. he moved out to scottsdale this last year and we picked up tix from his parents who are donors. I can't wait. I'll get on here before we leave right before new years so that we can possibly meet up with fellow sooners. it's just us four so I'm gonna want to team up to smack talk before the game.

P.S. this is my first away/bowl game of any kind...can't wait

Well, I can tell you that soonersam makes a great driver for the mobile tailgate, invented in the parking lot of last year's Holiday Bowl.

Tempe has a big Fiesta Bowl block party on New Year's Eve at Mill Avenue. It is the campus corner of ASU, basically. Third Eye Blind is the headlining musicians at this deal with tons of bands and places to go.

While down there, I don't know if you enjoy reading, but you might like The Library. They have a whole different version of the dewey decimal system, though. You can check things out, but not books.

Recommendation--you don't want to stay in Glendale. Nothing out there but the stadium. Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tempe are the spots, but rooms are going to be very expensive as this is peak season anyway. If money is no object, Camelback Inn, Hilton at Gainey Ranch or J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge are ideal spots and very tourist-friendly that have local flavor.

Nightlife...Mill Avenue in Tempe or Old Town in Scottsdale.

We definitely need to plan a Sooner get-together one night. What do you think, soonersam? Dos Gringos? Devil's Martini? Let's show our Sooner brethren a damn good time!

Agreed!! The mobile Tailgate "Hummer" style is on tap again and Sooner-night could be early new years house party at my place. I'm a 8 dollar cab ride to Old Town and 9 dollars to Mill. Third Eye Blind is the headliner for Tempe. I'm not sure how many folks from OK will blend in the Martini with OU shirts and hats. So I recomend the block parties and cab'in it eveywhere.
FYI everyone !!! AZ DUI laws are wicked and come with a manatory 24 hours in prison. Not jail, Sherrif Joe's prison at tent city. Some of us on this board have experienced first hand.

Here's an interesting flight option from MLTvacations.com

Departure City:
Oklahoma City, OK

Destination City:
Las Vegas

Dates:
31-Dec-06 to
4-Jan-07
Number of Passengers:
1
Air: 157.59
Total Price: 157.59

Fly to Vegas on New Year's Eve, drive to Phoenix (about 5-ish hours), beat up on the Broncos, crash at a Phoenix hotel, drive back to Vegas for a couple days R&R. If I wasn't flying out of Dallas already, I'd give this some serious consideration.

I'm not soonersam, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express. The stadium is basically built out in the middle of nowhere. It's a big space station with nothing but parking all around. Shouldn't be a problem.

If anyone is a hunter/fisher/fan of Bass Pro Shop, bring your money for Cabella. A giant outdoorsy type store right next to the stadium.

As for you staying at Camelback Inn, EXCELLENT choice! Very Arizonish right behind Camelback Mountain. Lots to do in and around that area.

Embassy Suites is real close to Pink Taco. Good food, too.

Cooperstown is right downtown next to Chase Field. A cab ride to and from Tempe is probably $25 or so each way.

No clue about Steve Stone restaurant.

The Legacy is 3 or 4 miles from the freeway and another 25 miles or so to the stadium on the west side of Phoenix. You'll also be about 3 or 4 miles from the ghetto, but the resort itself is okay. :)

Mill is probably less than 10 miles and Old Town less than 20. No idea how much cabs are here but it won't be cheap.

How certain are "we" that the team is staying at the Princess resort? If they are, and they have rooms, I'll try and stay there. Since this is my 7 year old's first OU game, and the first bowl game for both of my boys, I'd love to be able to see the team at the hotel.

Unfortunately we won't have time to do much other than go to the game. We're flying in from DFW on the 31st, going to the game on the 1st, then back to DFW the next morning. I've driven through AZ many times and spent a long weekend in Phoenix about 3 years ago in February when the weather was truly crappy here in OK. It was 3 days of sunshine and OklaPony driving around in a convertible soaking it up!

Seriously, we need to get a soonerfans new years party somewhere. I reco Dos Gringos in scottsdale. Maybe 3 or 4 o'clock than everyone can thier own ways later in the evening... Any suggestions.

I know alot of soonerfans meet at four peaks in N scottsdale for the games, but the beer is spensive and not much close..

Tailgate?
Has anyone got thier parking passes yet? Does it tell you what color parking your in or is it first come?

I'll be in my roomates hummer driving in circles with the maestro yelling for people to keep it classy san diego. At least thats the way it went down last year.

I just got off the phone with one of the managers there, and he said that they are having a "block party" during the day on New Year's Eve - I guess there are 4 other bars there, and they have closed the street that day - Baruca Salt (sp) is playing there that night. He told me to try to get some sort of head count, and they might be able to work out a "group discount".

I didn't mean to sound rude, and I wasn't trying to sway anyone's opinion. It just depends on what you're going for - if you want a huge party and bar-hopping, Dos is awesome. If you're looking to chill and not be in the center of the action, I would pick anything that is not part of the block party.
