SOONERS WEEKLY
For the Week of December 4, 2006

NO. 2 SOONERS SWEEP D2 MISSOURI STATE
OU PLAYS HOME-AND-HOME WITH CENTRAL OKLAHOMA THIS WEEK

THIS WEEK’S GAMES - The University of Oklahoma® hockey club (19-0-0) play a home-and-home series with the first-year ACHA D1 club from Central Oklahoma (8-6-0-2) this weekend. On Friday, December 8th, OU travels to Edmond for a 7:30 P.M. face-off against the Bronchos. Saturday night, December 9th, Central Oklahoma returns the trip by traveling to the Blazers Ice Centre for a 7:30 P.M. contest. Oklahoma has now won 20 straight games (dating back to last season) and remains the only unbeaten team in ACHA D1 play this season.

LAST WEEK’S OU HOCKEY GAMES – Oklahoma took a pair of games from ACHA D2 power Missouri State (9-10-1) this past weekend in Oklahoma City. Friday night, the Ice Bears appeared set for the upset bid by going into the third period tied with the Sooners at two. However, OU unloaded four unanswered goals on MSU in the third period to win 6-2. On Saturday night, four goals from forward Adrian Borchgrevink and a second period that saw OU score 7 times powered the Sooners to a dominating 12-3 victory.

RANKINGS – The Sooners are currently ranked 2nd in the most recent ACHA Coaches Division 1 ranking. The next ACHA D1 ranking is scheduled to be released this Friday.

MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT – OU Hockey will host its 4th Annual Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, December 9th, when the Sooners take on Central Oklahoma at the Blazers Ice Centre. With proper I.D., all military personnel and their family will be able to purchase tickets for admission to the game for 50% off the regular ticket price or $3.00 per person. Service members in attendance will be honored by OU Hockey immediately prior to the game. In addition, military personnel in attendance will be eligible to be selected to participate in on-ice intermission activities between periods for the chance to win fabulous prizes as OU Hockey pays tribute to the brave men and women who serve in the defense of freedom.

SKATE WITH THE SOONERS – Immediately after the Saturday game against Central Oklahoma, join the Sooners on the ice for the 4th Annual “Skate With The Sooners.” All of the Sooners Hockey players will be on the ice and available to fans of all ages for pictures, to sign autographs or just to hang out and skate a few laps around the rink. Pick up some rental skates at the rink or bring your own and Skate with the Sooners for just $5.00 per person (Military personnel and family attending for Military Appreciation night skate for free!).

SCOUTING THE BRONCHOS – Central Oklahoma last played during Thanksgiving week when they traveled to Minot, North Dakota for a three-game series against Minot State. The Bronchos lost all three games to Minot State by scores of 5-4 (SO), 5-3 and 5-4. Central Oklahoma is currently 2-6-0-2 against ACHA D1 teams. The Bronchos are led in scoring by defenseman Joel Hornung who has four goals and thirteen assists for a total of 17 points. Hornung is followed by Brian Thompson (6-6-12), Rob Deubel (6-6-12), Brent Block (5-7-12) and Shawn Steggles (5-7-12). Goaltender Rob Mattison (4.16 GAA) is Central Oklahoma’s top netminder.

SOONERS HOME GAMES ON THE AIR – All 2006-2007 OU Hockey home games will be broadcast over the internet this season.
