Because they wanted to give it to a Sooner, but couldn't give it to AD, so they did the next best thing--- give it to the son of a Sooner.

You think about it. this guy, Zac, grow up in:

- Norman the meca of college football
- Has father played for the sooners
- Seeing OU and Sooners items/clothes all around the house, on the street, and in his dream
- Playing in a Normal city High school - dream to be a sooners

and he had to play the sooners in the championship and got beat badly physically and .. ofcourse mentally.

I would be really sad if I was Zac Talor.

Didn't Zac Taylor say that even he wouldn't have recruited himself out of high school?

Zac went to Wake Forest (no offer from OU), then to junior college for one year then two years at NU, I think he has done a great job...the psych was in always in against OU because his dad played here during the glory days and was a big time player and he grew up a rabid OU fan....but I am proud of what he has accomplished, a great kid....

Coach Stoops sought him out after the game and he was asked later what Stoops said to him and he said Stoops said things to try and make me feel better about the game since I didn't have that good of game and I was down on myself. Classy act by Stoops!
