It stands for temporomandibular joint. Basically jaw problems. I have it and it sucks, and can be very painful. And I do pop my jaw a lot.

The jaw tic, or whatever you want to call it, is a subconscious reaction to nervous tension and stress. It's another manifestation of the same phenomenon as a nervous twitch.
