I have 3 tickets and now I am wondering if I should even go.

Anyone else considering not going?

Yeah, jk is a bad fan too....there's a post around here somewhere.

i've already made the decision........weather channel reports that kansas (parts) is supposed to get more snow today.....with the roads the way they are in oklahoma, i'd rather eat the 100 i put out on the tickets than what i might lose if something goes wrong

colleyvillesooner

I'm thinking about it too. I just don't want it to take 6 hours to get from DFW to Tulsa, and another 6 hours to KC. Just starting to think it's not worth it. I have "zero" experience driving on snow and ice.

Man this sucks.

One of the sports guys, channel 5(8) here in OKC, made the drive and said you just had to take your time. The normal 5 to KC from OKC would be 7-8.

I'm worried about the strip between the Red River and Tulsa on 69 and the Turnpike. Also US-69 or US 71 don't sound like fun trips either. I can afford eating the $140 on tickets ALOT more than I a can a wrekced car.

yermom

it that faster than just taking I-35?

i would think the highways would be a ton better

for those of you making the trip - be safe!

Mjcpr

Tulsa north is where the heavy snow was....I don't think they got ALL that much south of Tulsa. I would think the Tulsa to KC leg would be the hardest part.

we're going in the morning. had planned on leaving this afternoon.
my bro has 4-wheel drive so I'm not concerned.

also, Kansas does do a good job of cleaning up the roads but hey, I've driven on closed highways in New Mexico before. you just have to take your time and keep that foot off the brakes when you can.

If I go, I am considering taking the cimmeron tp to I-35 and heading north on that.

I usually can make KC in 3.5 hours via 169 if the traffic is lite.

yeah I usually go the 169 route also.

the problem with leaving today from here would be getting to I-35. The Cimmaron is closed right now.:O

Here's the Kansas site:

http://511.ksdot.org/kanroadpublic/Ksys/KRDefault.asp

According to it, you should be ok if you're going to use I35. The Southeast portion of KS doesn't look so hot though.

I'm pretty close to not going. If I was coming from OKC, I would go, but driving from Dallas to KC on Saturday morning will be a long, slow haul. The other main factor is my car is in the shop, and I'd be in my loaner (aka my mothers car).

AARGHHH!!

Somebody tell me I'm doing the smart safe thing for me and the Mrs. so I'll stop feeling like a wuss.

According to weather.com it's 8 degrees warmer in Norman right now than in Lincoln, and 17 degrees warmer when accounting for wind chill.

my boy Eric just called from KC. he's been on the job in Iowa all week and just drove in. he said the roads in KC are fine and it was a breeze for his drive in. that means the Nebbish fans will still be coming in droves.

It looks like our buying of stading room only tix will be paying off with all the folks not coming now.

At times like this, its usually best to make the best call you can, then live with it and don't look back. Everything happens for a reason.
