View Full Version : Christmas office party - ideas needed

lil'duck

So I'm throwing an office party tomorrow night and I need some good suggestions for music as well as activities.

Do you go with strictly Christmas music or mix it up? If you favor mixing it up, what do you suggest - that is in good taste?

And games or no games?

I've got the booze and food handled.

Most of my employees are part-timers and don't regularaly work the same hours as each other, so I need something good to loosen the mood up and make them feel comfortable with getting to know each other a little better. (The age range is early twenties to early thirties - if that helps)

suggestions welcome. thanks!

Go to your local strip club. Whatever playlist they use - copy it.

Pinatas filled with strawberry jam. The "thwack" is satisfying and the effect is stunning.

Hell, i dunno. Music, alcohol and snacks. What more do you need?

Did I mention alcohol?

heh. LOL. I knew I wouldn't get a straight answer outta you'alls.

Jagermeister, strippers. It's an office, party, not Vegas. ;)

But I do want it to be fun and not one of those "I guess have to put in an appearance" to look good to the boss kind of things. I aim to have a kick-butt party.

let's just say an unnamed group of people at an unnamed company in the new york area had a party that ended up being orgified, including said boss bewbage. said boss is very likely on the chopping block for fratrizination...said employes believe they may be on the chopping block as well.

Well..some Christmas music, do the people like country or classic rock or pop? no heavy metal and no hardcore rap. I'd have some bump and grind music in reserve so if the people get a little feisty after teh booze kicks in you can help the d00ds see the bewbs.

Pictionary would be lame.

I actually liked that book. And "Who Moved My Cheese?" AND "Fish!"

I can't remember which one was the one that talked about positive reinforcement a lot-it was from the One Minute Manager folks-but I got a TON out of it about how to motivate people.

:les: TAKE IT BACK!!!!

And lil'duck, I have a history of skipping my office holiday parties (or working at sucky places that didn't have 'em), so I don't have many "traditional" ideas to offer. Basically, I'd say you ABSOLUTELY shouldn't play only Christmas music. That will get annoying and will drive people to early exits. Forced games are teh suck, but setting aside a table in the corner that you toss a deck of cards and some chips onto gives people a nice option, since EVERYONE either plays poker now or "really wants to learn to play". It sounds like you have matters well in hand, for the most part. I envy your employees already.

Oh, and if boss bewbs make an appearance, I'll expect pics ASAP. :D

I just got to this thread. Glad the guys already mentioned bewbs, cause it would be a crime if it make it through one page without mention of them. Their appearance at a party always makes it hit. And any hostess wants the guests to be talking about her party for weeks. Bewbs appearing guarantees it.

I like Christmas music. Just make sure it is jiggy. I have tons of Christmas music that is jiggy. Gets folks in the mood and its very party like.

I was at a party with a video game of skiing. I don't remember what game system it was, but folks kept trying to beat the best time down the hill. That was very good. There is a game out now that involves an actual snowboard as the control. People have to get on the board and move with it as you go down the hill. It's like $50. Maybe pricey but if you can charge it back to the company, worth it.

Other than that, alcohol and nudity is pretty much a must for any good party.

Frozen Sooner

OK, so here's how you set this party up right.

First, have some fewd. That's right, fewd. Good fewd. Some dang chicken wings, some chips and salsa, some of them there taquitos, some little egg rolls, stuff like that. FINGER food. If people are going to be eating off of plates, anything that needs a fork SUCKS. Chicken skewers are good, too.

Second: Music. Start it off with Christmas music while everyone is making nicey nicey and watching the award presentation, which is going to bore the **** out of them but make them feel kind of good. Don't toss the award ceremony, it's just going to be boring. After everyone has a couple in them, start bouncin'. Figure out the taste of the crowd, but put on some **** people can dance to from the last ten years.

Third: Alcohol. Beer. Wine. Figure out if some people like mixed drinks and get the stuff to make 'em. MAKE SURE that people don't drink WAY too much. That's a downer.

Fourth: Games. Axe 'em. Lame.

Fifth: Bewbs. Lots of em.
