I just installed in on the laptop. Can't decide if I like it or not. Anybody else using it? Like it? Hate it?

I just installed it yesterday, and the tile feature is cool, firefox already had tabs, so that's not a big thing for me.

BUT, it's acting kinda sluggish on me. The IE window has locked up a couple of times now, and I've had to kill it.

So, I kinda like it, but if it keeps locking up, I'll hate it and ask you to throw a shoe at it.

:D

Firefox is still much better. IE7 is slow at loading pages that Firefox brings right up. There are advantages to IE7 in opening certain pages that all the features aren't available in Firefox (web based Outlook), but I still prefer Firefox 10 times over.

dogfood, man. dogfood. disable the phishing filter as that thing is a resource dog. i got the nastiest email the other day because i'm not on vista yet. i think 7.1 is RTD next week

I haven't had any locks but it's taking me a while to get used to these tabs.

I'm not sold on the layout. I had a hard time finding standard features, menus, etc.

mrowl, are there security issues that concern you?

jkm, is the phishing filter redundant with AVG Free running?

I don't think that AVG is gonna take the place of the phishing filter. But all the phishing filter does is tell you if a URL isn't really what you expect it to be,
so machines that do virtual hosting will always trigger this. Thus, I turned it off too.

Webroot Spy Sweeper is the shiznit for protection. I highly recommend it.

i don't think you need it at all unless you click on the links in your spam a lot.

I hate the favorites. You have to actually click on the folders to open them. I ended up just displaying the menubar all the time so I could use the favorites like in IE6. I still use firefox unless I'm using something that requires ActiveX or pages that just weren't tested with browsers besides IE.

i agree, especially since i organize them into folders and they work like the old stupid history bar. on a related note, the stupid "instant search" feature for outlook is heinous. it installs live desktop search which is a serious resource hog (runs like 65 mb as a service). the problem is that it won't stop nagging you to use it. you have to go into the menu to use advance find which is like 2 layers down.

Firefox allows so much customization with extensions, it's just crazy.

I do side by side for people at work with eWeeks website.

Firefox comes up much faster with no ads.

IE takes forever and loads a ton of ads.

You guys are nuts installing that. I'd be afraid my computer would be toast. Microsoft is too bloated to worry about little issues like crashing your computer after an update.

Been using IE 7 for a few weeks. I dont get much out of tabbed browsing so I made it look/feel like IE 6 right off the bat. I haven't had any problems, doesn't seem slow, etc. but then I'm not the p0wer websurf0rz you guys are ;)

i'm pretty sure my 4 year old is haxorz.

After a bath I noticed she had left some of her foam letters stuck to the side of the tub. It looked like l337.

I'll get a pic next time.
