Ah, those heady long-ago days.

I rented a motel room a couple of blocks from the office so I wouldn't have to risk life and limb driving back to Pryor tonight, or making the trip again tomorrow...you know, since work doesn't get cancelled for snow. :P

#$%%# We never had classes cancelled! Well, not as a whole. Pansies.:D

One year the weather was so bad pretty much the only way to campus was on the CART. I get to my class to have my professor make a snide comment about all of us coming that day. Yeah, you jerk, it's because attendance counted as part of our grade and you were a @$%.

Couple of feet of snow and it's cold outside?

We call that Tuesday around here. If we canceled class every time that happened, they'd be in makeup sessions until September.

It was so much more pleasant when it was the trolley and not a bus.

And now that I'm having flashbacks of standing at Three Flags in the rain and snow:mad:, it's off to bed.

State offices are close, have fun Norm and Mrs. Norm, but I'm pretty sure I need/have to go in anyway.

When I worked at Corrections we a had formal/structured essential personnel list. Where I am, not so much.

But bro is going to pick me up and we're going. I've got stuff to do anyway and there probably won't be a lot of interruptions today.

My boss told me I was a nonessential employee yesterday afternoon so if Governor Henry cancelled work, I didn't need to go. YAY for me!

I did notice that OBU was closed today. What? Everyone lives on campus there. I bet someone prank called the news stations again. That's the only way they ever close that campus due to weather.

my office is CLOSED

"Due to the continuing deterioration of weather conditions, for safety reasons we are now closing the OKC office for the day. Employees who have made it to the office and have not already headed home are encouraged to do so at a time that they consider the best for them. Today will be recognized as a "Weather Day" and employees will be paid for the full day at their normal rate of pay. For those of you who bravely made it into the office today, please take extra caution driving home and we thank you for getting to the office."

I guess it's different working for the university. I got no less than 8 emails from various offices within OU that said, "DON'T COME TO WORK CAMPUS IS CLOSED!"

I imagine everyone with laptops is working from home anyway. Can't go outside and play in the ice... However, after naps now, it looks like the kids are gonna wake up to at least a couple of inches of snow now that it started coming down like that.

We don't have a sled, but you can bet they're gonna get a ride around the neighborhood in a box if nothing else.

If this keeps up, it looks like another snow day tomorrow.

Here is a snippet from the memo we got from OPM:

In accordance with Merit Rule 530:10-15-72, employees who are not responsible for basic
minimum services have the following options to account for leave due to hazardous
weather:

1. Charge the absence to enforced leave;
2. Charge the absence to accumulated compensatory time;
3. Charge the absence to accumulated annual leave;
4. Make up lost time in a manner consistent with the FLSA, if the Appointing
Authority determines that office hours and schedules permit.
