As has Miami and Georgia. In fact, Miami's was so good, their coach just got fired.

As have Georgia and FSU. UCLA ain't nothing special and the two orange turds at the top kinda fell short of the mark as well.

Then again, 7 out of 10 of those teams have played in BCS games since then. Texas won it all in '05, tOSU is in the title game 4 years later, Auburn went undefeated in '04, OU played in two NC games. Miami, FSU and Georgia all played in BCS games since then.

Personally, I don't give a **** about 5 star vs. 3 star etc. (see Trent Williams), but those rankings are not always completely void of value, you just have to keep them in perspective.

I'm not sure this is the best year to evaluate the '02 class. I realize that you didn't just isolate this year to evaluate that class, but I believe the only players left had to have been redshirted at some point. Still, that having been said, Rufus, Birdine, ENA and Thibideaux are all still around for us.

nothing harder than gauging the future success of a 17-18 year old male.

Ok, let's look at 2003:

1 LSU
2 Florida
3 Southern Cal
4 Oklahoma
5 Miami-FL
6 Georgia
7 NC State
8 South Carolina
9 Mississippi State
10 Texas A&M

1-4 seem to be right on. 5 fired coach, 6 nothing, 7 fired coach, 8 not much, 9 hahahah, 10 improved but certainly not top 10.

So I guess like most things, the truth is probably somewhere in between.
