Someone needs to keep an eye on the change in what the kid is driving over the next few weeks.................

Good Luck on the change of venue hasn't worked so well for many, many, many others.

I would rather see these kids at OSU or Tulsa than head to places like the perpetual stepchild that is Tennessee.

"They said I can choose (what position I play), and I'm thinking receiver," Jones said.

That's probably why he isn't coming here. I bet Stoops told him where he will probably play. (which is a good thing IMO)

I still wish we had Meachum. Oh well, good luck to the kid.

If this keeps up, Oklahoma is gonna turn into a "Pipeline" for Tennessee on NCAA 2009 or so.

Meacham is a good player. I coached at a 5A school that played B.T. Washington and had the chance to watch him when they came to town.

He's big, runs well, but he wasn't the type of guy (then) that a coach would really enjoy coaching. He spiked the ball about every time he was tackled, walked back to the huddle, wouldn't block or hustle if he didn't get the ball, etc. He's a good player, regardless. Pitiful attitude, but he's good.

take it for what it's worth...

Is he any good?

GJ would've been a nice addition to the Sooner team . . . I think he probably could've played in several different spots on offense.

Oh well.

I wish OU and OSU would quit screwing around with each other when it comes to in-state talent. It seems like OSU only kinda goes after the good prospects b/c they're fearful to waste time on a kid that would rather go to OU. On the other hand, OU seems to rather see what they can get nationally in those positions that in-state players could fill because they know they can get the in-state guy whenever they offer. It seems the in-state guy ultimately gets tired of being overlooked by the in-state programs and goes elsewhere. It's getting old.

have you seen what kind of prima donnas oklahoma produces? its like the crap that mcquarters pulled after he left osu - "i always wanted to go to OU. i almost transferred to be under blake."

meachem went to tennessee because OU didn't feature one receiver. "there just weren't enough balls for me". jason white won the heisman throwing the ball all over the place that year whereas at tennessee he's been hard pressed having a QB that can throw it and hit a spot in the state of tennessee.

yeah, we can't get any WR's in the NFL either. no one watches us on TV and has no one never heard of any of them come draft day

no frickin joke. and i don't consider any of our current NFLers prototype pro receivers, either. malcolm kelly, however, is.

I think the prototypical NFL receiver has changed a bit. There are so many wideouts under 6' it's ridiculous.

Marvin.

Harrison.

I disagree. We have had good recievers in the past. Look at Bradley. Clayton. Jones. Tinker Owens. Malcom Kelley will be in the NFL. I think that Jones went to Tennessee because he thinks he has a better future as a receiver than a QB in college and NFL. OU simply doesn't have room for him as a receiver or the numbers of scholarships available for next year's class.

Just my opinion.

And we've had good quarterbacks like Brett Rhomar and Kelly Phelps.

Well that just means he'll end up being beaten by us at some point because we signed a home and away with Tennessee.

I may get to see Jones play next week if Millwood beats Spiro and Vian beats Davis in the 2A semifinals, so I'll see for myself if he's the real deal.
