I'm more in agreement with this list than the other one. At least MK made the 2nd team.

Daniel 2nd team qb is a joke. I agree on McCoy as POY, he was getting Heisman talk 3 weeks ago. Plus he played in the south

Griffin being picked above Reggie Smith is a joke IMHO.

BIG_IKE

This is more accurate, but several things dont seem right to me.

1) McCoy should be higher
2) Sweed should be 2nd team and Kelly 1st Team
3) Griffin should 2nd team and Smith 1st Team
4) Bobino from Texas should be 2nd team at least
5) Cosby from Texas outplayed Sweed in Conference play and should be 2nd team in my opinion
6.) Lendy Holmes should be 2nd team not honorable mention

Gross...I cant believe I am defending Whorns

..and one more thing...Tech's QB should have been mentioned. He may throw the most, but he almost has the highest completion % too.

I only saw 2 A&M games (OU and texas), but their DE Barrington seemed very impressive in those two....does anyone know anything about him? Did he just happen to have two good games when I was watching?

Texas pass defense ranks like 100th in the nation yet two of their DB's are 1st team all conference. Either they are really over rated or Chizek had no f'in clue.

I choose to believe they are over rated.

Well.

After watching them play for the last 4 years I can't say they are overrated. Name one college secondary in America they could not start in.

If UT did not have these two, no MNC last year and they would not have won the RRS this year. Ross will probably win the Thorpe too.

RRS 2K5- Ross 2 INT's 1 FR, 1 FF, 1 TD
Griffin- 2 FF

Amen. Colt McCoy was much more impressive than Taylor.

I do not know how in the world Taylor was chosen, he was okay, but not great. Of course, Eric Crouch was not that great either, but for some reason he received accolades beyond his accomplishments two years. They should just be grateful they did not play in the Big XII South or they would have been no higher than third team QB since their stats would have suffered so badly. Neither NU QB can carry Jason White's or Vince Young's jocks.

Its Harrington, he's definently our best defensive lineman and leads the team in sacks.

There is no way crosby is 1st team over hartley, is crosby a groza finalist??? The only reason he is on there is cus he can kick a 70yd fg in colorado, that is the only joke I see on the team, though there are some that I thought should be diff.

Man talk about some major sour grapes (ref. Taylor first team). A Norman boy playing for NU, and has just as good, if not better stats than McCoy, and is voted by the Big 12 Coaches as Offensive POY, but he doesn't deserve it?? McCoy does!

There are really only two arguments as to why you Sooners feel this way:

1) McCoy lit up your defense in your game with them
1a) Taylor is a Norman boy that turned out to be a better than average QB, and is at NU as we speak!

Nothing more!

who won head to head?

Texas did, and were very lucky to have done that. Nunn doesn't fumble, NU wins (old topic)

The better question would be who had a better day head to head:

Taylor: 15/28 277 yds. 2 tds 1 int. 1 fumble/1 lost

McCoy: 25/39 220 yds. 2 tds 0 int. 3 fumbles/1 lost

No doubt that McCoy deserves newcomer of the year, but Taylor as voted by the Big 12 coaches was the OPOY! Sooners will see him in three days.

BIG_IKE
11/29/2006, 03:06 PM
McCoy did not have a big game vs. the Sooners. He made some clutch plays, but he did not "light anyone up". But in comparing Taylor and McCoy

McCoy

Big 12 QB Rating: #1 (Taylor #2)
Completion Percentage: #1 (Taylor #4)
Touchdowns: 27 (Taylor 24)
INT's: 7 (Taylor 4)
Sacked: 14 (Taylor 23)
Wins: 9 (Taylor 9)
Head to Head: beat Taylor
Scoring Offense: #1 in Big 12

How does Taylor seem better. Statisitcally he is not overall.
He has more passing yards, and less interceptions, but in every other category he is not. Plus, McCoy beat him on his own field.

dude, get off your frickin high horse. there is nothing more that ****es me off than an opposing fan meandering on here and acting all nickzeppish with regards to other people's opinions. THEY ARE OPINIONS MORON. taylor played in a much easier division and didn't face the #1 defense in the league, yet still ended up with inferior stats. so maybe, just maybe, there might be another reason.

Big Red Cop
11/29/2006, 03:28 PM
McCoy beat him on his own field.

Terrance Nunn not holding onto the football was the reason TEXAS, not McCoy won that day! Not even arguable!

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I still think if you measure both QB's out not only by numbers which they are just as good as each other, but the heart as well. Taylor has the heart of ten men, McCoy....well I just don't think that he is there yet. Given the choice to have either McCoy or Taylor leading my team down the field with 2 minutes left in the game, IMO that is a no brainer. I do think that McCoy will be one helluva QB when all is said and done. In Taylor's defense, McCoy played behind a much much better O-Line than Taylor.

The Big XII South has too many good/scary/decent quarterbacks coming back for the next several years.

McCoy. McGee. Reid. Harrell. Frosh. Junior. Soph. Soph.

And we've got...who, exactly?

And then there's Chase Daniel at Missouri, also a soph. And the frosh kid at K. State. Man.

I hope some really smart QB prospect realizes what an oppOrtUnity awaits him at Oklahoma. I also hope Heupel can work some magic with Halzle and Bradford this spring.
