SOONERS WEEKLY
For the Week of November 27, 2006

SOONERS HOST D2 MISSOURI STATE THIS WEEK
OU REMAINS ONLY UNBEATEN TEAM IN ACHA D1 PLAY THIS SEASON

THIS WEEK’S GAMES - The University of Oklahoma® hockey club (17-0-0) host ACHA D2 Missouri State (9-8-1) this weekend for a pair of games. A few records are on the line for the Sooners this weekend as OU has never lost to Missouri State, compiling a 10-0-0 record against the Ice Bears over the past three years. Also, dating back to the last game of the 05-06 season, Oklahoma has now won 18 straight games and remains the only unbeaten team in ACHA D1 play this season.

LAST WEEK’S OU HOCKEY GAMES – Oklahoma did not play this past weekend due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The Sooners’ last games were two weeks ago when OU swept ACHA D2 power Michigan State (6-7-0) in a pair of home games.

RANKINGS – The Sooners are currently ranked 3rd in the most recent ACHA Coaches Division 1 ranking. The next ACHA D1 ranking is scheduled to be released this Friday.

SCOUTING THE ICE BEARS – Missouri State is ranked 8th in the ACHA D2 Central Region and is a member of the Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Association. Coach Benjamin Alexander’s club last played the week before Thanksgiving, losing a pair of games at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville by scores of 3-1 and 10-7. The Ice Bears started off the 06-07 campaign by stunning D1 powerhouse Lindenwood on the road with a 6-2 win. However, since then, the Ice Bears have played three more games against D1 opponents, losing all three. MSU is led in scoring by junior forward Dan Odenwald who has fourteen goals and fourteen assists for a total of 28 points. Odenwald is followed by senior forward Andy Hellwig (6-15-21), freshman forward Paul Saitta (6-12-18) and sophomore forward Andy Whitener (11-4-15). Senior goaltender Kevin Rekowski (3.12 GAA) and junior goaltender Michael Brown (3.29 GAA) split the netminding duties for the Ice Bears.

SOONERS HOME GAMES ON THE AIR – All 2006-2007 OU Hockey home games will be broadcast over the internet this season. Caleb Fox, a senior from Rowlett, Texas, returns to call his second season of play-by-play action for the Sooners. Color commentator Keaton Fuchs, a senior from Norman, also returns this season and is joined by producer/commentator Scott Kingsolver, a senior from Plano, Texas, to bring you another year of hard-hitting, fast-paced Sooners Hockey action over the internet throughout the year. The OU Hockey broadcast begins 15 minutes prior to face-off.
