a hotel room in Kansas City yet? Good lord it was about 10 times easier to find tickets to the game. I guess the whorns are gonna just no show rather than cacel their reservations.

If anyone finds any non-hourly hotels with rooms open, I'd appreciate a heads up.

i barely found one, using hotels.com

mrowl suggested that the texas fans will start cancelling their reservations soon.....keep trying

you might call some of the bigger hotels and put yourself on a waiting list in the event they get cancellations

I bet a ton open up the day of. It'd be just like the Texas people to not let go of their reservation until the last day before. I bet, in the same situation, many of us here would do the same. :D

Cool, I'll hook you up next time you come to Dallas. If you have a garage or just a nice parcel of land I could put up a tent on, I might be willing to rent.

You people have no faith. I booked mine in June at the same time I booked all the rest of my hotels for the season. I had no problem making a reservation. Heh.

We are staying at the Doubletree in Overland Park, which is where we have stayed the previous two times we won the CCG in KC. The only time we stayed somewhere else was in 2003, and we all know what happened then.

Interestingly enough, this particular hotel is usually the North champion's team hotel, which is always fun. Last time, as some of you may recall, I got Gary Barnett's room number off of a sheet sitting in plain view at the front desk when we checked in. I didn't do anything with it, of course. It may be different this time if I can get Callahan's room number, though.

I had to take a room in Ottawa, 60 miles away. Hopefully, I can find one closer if there are cancellations in the next few days.

Don't forget checking north of town, perhaps near KCI. A bit of a drive, but the traffic moves pretty good. Even as far north as Platte City, MO is do-able without much hassle IMHO. Bottomline, you don't have to stay near Arrowhead because they've actually done a pretty good job engineering the roads around there and they handle the surges on Chiefs gamedays.

don't do it online. call them!

Man, I was getting like Clark W. Grizwald right after they dropped off Aunt Edna's corpse. "We're gonna watch so much football, you'll be whisteling Boomer Sooner out your A-holes.".

Finally freaking got the Sheraton Four Points by the Airport.

If anyone else needs to stay there, I guess too bad because they are showing full again.

I'm getting the idea that now that things are slowing down, hotel clerks are getting a chance to key in cancellations and they are popping up 1 by 1 and being chewed up 20 to 1.

Anyway, just so you all know - the guy at the Sheraton Convertion Center informed me-

"The Big 12 Tournament is in town this weekend so things are very crowded. Oklahoma and Nebraska are playing and both of those teams travel very well."

I tried to cut him off 3 times, but he kept going. Thanks for the info Skippy.

If you are flying in for the game try the Embassy Suites hotel in Tiffany Springs, MO. It's an easy commute the stadium (far easier than coming from Overland Park) and it's a nice place. They may also be running a shuttle to Arrowhead.

You might also look at hotels in Lee's Summit. Around the Plaza and Crowne Center are going to be booked and will also be pretty pricey. Also, there is a Holiday Inn on 435 that is south of Arrowhead. It's across the road from Worlds of Fun and it's good if you have kids with you.

BOOMER SOONER - Can't wait to see everyone in KC.

I finally got a room at the Holiday Inn in Lawrence. I just made them (2:45 pm CST) and they told me they had other rooms, and the rate was really good. It looks like about 40 miles from KC, but I'm too old to sleep in my car. When I called the Holiday Inn at the Sports Complex them told me the cancellation time for Saturday night would be at midnight. So I can see the longhorn fans not cancelling their reservations until after the game.

see ya there. we will be the 4 guys in OU stuff, partying to celebrate the win.

yeah, the rate is under 100.00. We are splitting rooms, so we got 2 doubles for 84.00 per room, split 2 ways is cheap enough.
