when Al said he heard that if we win the Big XII championship that the Rose Bowl might try to work out a deal to get us, instead of the Fiesta Bowl??

pffft, we've already won a Rose Bowl.
Do we get free Tostitos if we go to the Fiesta.

All I know is that when I left Norman in 2002 he certainly was

Well, assumimg USC wins and leapfrogs Michigan to get in the NC game, you'd have to think an OU/Michigan Rose Bowl would be a seriously big draw - much better than an OU/Boise State Fiesta...

id rather play michigan in the rose than bsu in the fiesta. no offense to bsu, i just think michigan would be a better game

I bet the big bowls are dreading the possibility of Boise State coming in...

exactly.. and even if USC doesn't jump them and it a OU/USC rose bowl.. that would be a huge draw as well.. and how great would it be to get some revenge and let AD go out on top...

what's your point?? can we not speculate and talk about what might be??

the problem is where does Notre Dame fit into this? Aren't they guaranteed a BCS bid if they win, like, 2 games? They seem to like having them out at the Fiesta Bowl. I suppose an NU/OU vs ND matchup would be nice.

Then, what if they put Boise State in the Rose against MI? OldKeith Jackson might just have a stroke.

from the looks of tonights game nd doesnt deserve a bcs bowl.

Do people really wanna see a ND/Mich. rematch in the rose bowl after what happened the first time??

i certainly like talking about 'what ifs', and just getting back from the game, i hadn't heard about the rose bowl possibility, it was a fun trip out there last time. i will be in k.c. cheering to make it happen.

If BSU gets invited to the fiesta, I think the fiesta would rather keep a big school with a following like OU than just give it away to the rose bowl.

True, but i have yet to see that stop them from getting one.

I like that idea, a lot!

A two-loss ND team will still get BCS game. But, let's let them play against Boise State in the Fiesta. Hey, that way ND may actually get a chance to win a bowl game.

OU and Michigan in the Rose would be classic.

ND doesn't deserve a bowl. They have the most fluff filled schedule and lost to only 2 of 3 ranked teams they played.

im not sure nd could beat bsu though. they looked bad in every area tonight. for a #6 ranked team theyre just embarrassing to watch

It was never said they would "give" it away.. Supposedly the Rose Bowl might try to work out the deal.. and the Fiesta Bowl would probably be open to offers since they have 2 bowl games there this year, including the BCS championship..

If we beat Nebraska, I have a feeling the Fiesta gets stuck with ND/Boise St. I think an OU/Mich game is very attractive.

Remember also that ND only gets an automatic BCS bid if they are in the top 8. The lopsided result tonight may drop them below 8. Although they could still get an at-large bid if they are in the top 14, which will probably happen.

Heh! But please note that I said "chance".

ND would also pack in the fans. So, that's all good for the local Fiesta Bowl sponsors.

Forgive me, but I'm trying my best to argue this scenario.

If there's a deal, it would be to trade the Irish for us so that they don't have to showcase a rematch. Probably a wash for the Fiesta, I would think. I would love to get to take on Michigan. That would be huge.

They only qualify for a BCS bid with 2 wins IF one of them is in their annual battle with one of the following:

Army
Air Force
Navy
Merchant Marines
Coast Guard
Indiana National Guard
TSA

Other than that, they have to have THREE wins to qualify for the BCS.

ND has lost in both of their huge games.

I would imagine the bowls might frown on them at this point.

If I had to choose...I'd always like to play the tougher opponent.

look what we might face if we play Boise St. in the Fiesta...
