When I was a kid in Tulsa in the 1970's my dad got cable TV. This is very similar to the cable box we had. I have all kinds of pleasant memories of running across the room and kicking the cord causing the box to fly across the room and my dad start yelling at me. Good times. Me and my buddies figured out you can press the 5 and 7 channel buttons at the same time and get the Escapade naughty channel.

This is from an ebay auction.

Yup. 13 was the scrolling program guide. Ugh.

I didn't know you were in Tulsa.

Wow! I remember those! The one I really remember was a little white marker that went from 1 to 40, I think. I think it was just one straight line, and I remember it because the hard plastic hurt my fingers to move. :D

I remember those too. Haven't seen one of those in quite a while. I wonder how many are still around.

If it was the one that you slid horizontally, that's the one we had! I remember getting yelled at for sliding it too fast. TMC 43 rmfo!

those were awesome. I wore ours out to the point where it took no force at all to slide back and forth. actually stopping on the channel you wanted took incredible dexterity and precision.

I seem to remember that you could push say...channel 4 and 6 down at the same time and get channel 5.

Before the days of remote control, our TV had the usual turn knob on it. I had found a station between the channels. If you stopped midway on the turn, it would show the new station called ESPN. And no, we didn't have cable.

Those things were awesome. I had a little 13-inch black and white TV upstairs in my room with one of those. I figured out how to pick up HBO and Showtime, by pushing the buttons just right, and using the tuner on the far right hand side, with only mild static. The sound was nearly perfect.
