Jamelle is living just a few blocks away from me...I talked to him last Monday in a restaurant and he invited me over to watch MNF at his house...I turned down the invite, making up some excuse, because I had no desire to spend any amount of time around him...Seems weird that a former great Sooner qb would live just a few houses down from me and I wish he would move

Isn't he the host of "Blind Date?"

Yes.

And even though I haven't and wont watch that show, he is entertaining as a guest host and a panel member on Rome's TV show, the once I saw it.

Without going into it, the guy has not been a quality person while he has been here....Too many friends on the police force have been called too many times to his house...

I would much rather have Billy at my Thanksgiving table than my cousin Sergio.

So you like "Boomers" around the dinner table?

Maybe this should be a new poll.

Who would you rather have at your Thanksgiving table?
a. Billy Sims
b. Tommy McDonald
c. Cousin Sergio

Billy seems like the guy who wouldn't grow up. Except for his child support issues, he seems like a really nice guy who's earned enough of my respect to not mind if he shouts out "Boomer" at an inopportune time.

I won't listen to Rome, but Billy was on WDFN up here this morning around 10am your time. Apparently he's in Detroit for Thanksgiving on a promotion by Donruss which will be going on during the tailgates at the 3 games tomorrow in Detroit, Dallas, and Denver.
He was good on the interview, with the exception of the crappy cell phone connection. And he had fun talking about his time with the Lions, except for the Thanksgiving game against the Bears that was won on an overtime kickoff return by the Bears. He did jokingly mention that he'd considered tackling the Bear return guy as he ran up near the Lions sideline.

Sounds like a bit of a nosey neighbor situation to me.

It's been reported over & over Tommy doesn't drink that his actions on the sideline interview this season is just being Tommy.

Just can't see how anybody could not like Billy. I've heard if you visit his Bar B Q places and he's there he'll spend time talking with you- down to earth. He's a Sooner and a great one at that. So what if he yells Boomer Sooner at inopportune times- so be it. BTW he posts quite a bit on another OU site.

I joke about the Boomer thing because I'd rather not discuss the child support or selling heisman trophy thing.

Oh yea, because I'm sure hes the only person who ever had finacial problems. Give me a fricken break.

Billy is that Uncle at the family reunion that always says things that at the time makes you cover your face, but later you crack up laughing about it. He has my support full-time.

good for you.

I don't hate him. I don't care for him to be the face of the university either.

When the first Billy Sims barbecue opened in Tulsa, I stopped in for lunch and sims was standing at the door greeting people. He seems very personable but he also seems pretty uneducated for a guy who attended college.
I cringe listening to him do his restaurant commercials on the radio because he mispronounces the street name. The place is at 51st and Sheridan and he says:
"Come visit us at 51st and south Sheri-TON"
He really emphasizes a "T" thats not there. Not a big deal I guess but it's kinda embarrassing.

One of my all-time lows as a fan was several years ago. Let me set the scene...it was the Friday night before the 2nd Saturday in October. We made the sophomoric mistake (although we were grad students at the time or even after that maybe) of going to the West End. Fans of both schools were at their worst. I watched our former Heisman Trophy Winning (and selling and reselling) RB get into a shoving match with about a 100 pound UT fan. Billy and the other fan were later handcuffed and escorted from the area. It was awful. I saw him later that night so apparently he posted bail or wasn't detained too long or something. It was sad, really.
