View Full Version : On a Scale of 1-10 how excited are you about seeing your family for thanksgiving

I find that my family is best in limited doses when all put in the same room, especially my mom's side. My Dad's side is always cool but we have a lot of absences this year. I'm going to go with a 7.

I'd have to go somewhere between 9-10 this year. This could very well be the last Thanksgiving we are able to have with my grandmother on my dad's side of the family, and we came close to my grandfather on my dad's side not being here because of health issues earlier this year. I'm glad they are both able to be here, and hope they will still be here for Christmas (and hopefully future holiday's for a very long time). My grandmother has emphysema, and they are shocked that she's even still alive. My grandfather had some kind of health condition earlier this year and passed out while trying to light a cigarette - had my grandmother not had an oxygen tank in the house for her (she used it on him that day) he would've died right there on the couch. It is pretty much a miracle either of them are here for Thanksgiving this year...

10. Too bad I won't be seeing them. Going to Tennessee to visit my fiance's brother's girlfriend's family.

Yeah, I'm confused as well.

:(

My family will not be together this year. my grandparents are too old to travel and my kin here in H-town can not travel to them. But we plan to make the best of it!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!

I'm guessing you may not have had a big say in that plan.

I guess I'm about 5. non-chalant, you know.

If I remember rule #1, I'll be okay, and rule #1 is simple: At any gathering of Jerk's family together at one place during Holiday or reunion, be sure and ALWAYS drive there in your own car..so when TSHF you can bug out.

I said 6, but only because I'll only get to be home for 2 days... having to come back down here Friday sorta negates the excitement. I'll be a lot more excited for Christmas.

Can I change my vote to zero? The boss called and said that I was going to work tomorrow and that he'd call back later and let me know when and where. Rats.

Tell him you have genital herpes again and can't go. I'll get you the note.

And, NEVER answer the phone before a long holiday weekend. Didn't you learn nuthin' at OU?

1TC, I've been out 100 out of 115 days on location, but nothin's a bigger kick in the nuts than being called out close to a major holiday.

It's a 10, because I have always loved to see my extended family, which is sadly getting smaller as the decades pass. But I'm not gonna see my Okie kin this year, due to the lack of the bodacious hurricane I was calling on to to destroy New Orleans. Not really. It's still a 10 to spend the day with Mrs TU and the girls and MiL and BiL and SiL and nephew.

Seeing as how I won't be seeing any family this thanksgiving other than my wife, I'd say it's a 10. :D

Just kidding, I love my family, and it really sucks that I won't get to see them, or my new neice this thanksgiving.

No family for me this year, either cause I'm working. :( Mr. NMS was kind enough to stay in town also, so at least I don't have to cook my own dinner.

The upside is that the nurses always bring in tons of yummy food on Thanksgiving.

I'm mainly excited for the celery stuffing.

I mean, I like my mom and step-dad and all, but I hang out with them pretty regularly.

Mine's a 10, too.

But like a lot of you guys, I won't be seeing my family at all. I get to look at Thanksgiving from the backseat of a fire truck.

So if you're in Tulsa and your gizzard explodes from consumption, take a sec before you die to say howdy.

5.

Everyone I'm spending Thanksgiving today with, I see on a very regular basis.

Christmas should be better along those lines.

No family for Thanksgiving.

17 guests coming over though. We like to take in the others we know with no family to see either.

I put it at a 3 - ever since moving back here, I realize how much more enjoyable the holidays can be when you DON'T have that obligation to be around your family!

I can't even get together with my whole family around here anyway - we are going to one brother's house and then to the other one later today - (which is probably best for mine and my wife's sanity anyway)
