actually, i think my hind-end was "serviced" (sans lubrication) by the dealership. any of you hillbillie mechanic types know whay it cost so much??? granted, i needed it and my vehicle drives like new right now, but i took a clobberin' on my credit card... the one i'm finally getting down to a nice level.. not any more.

i was "this close" to trading it in and getting something new.

Are we supposed to guess at the repair that was done and the cost?

I'll go with 'replacing the U joint and $950'.

What do I win?

no U joint. but your not far off on the price. PA does emmissions testing ($65) and my inspection was up ($35) and my front rotors ($318) were WAY under the limit (they were close last year - so it's legit). add on the cost of the servicing, and you got prison love of astronomic proportions. i'm suprised my credic card comp. didn't call me yet.

If you've got a newer truck with synthetic grease it can get pretty costly. When I worked the dealerships we sold the synthetic stuff for about $15 a quart. It usually took 3 1/2 qts (meaning you bought 4). Tack on the BS shop charges, labor, & a tube of silicon & you've got about $200 service.

Do you have a copy of the ticket? Are there any parts on that service line? If there are, you have more than a service. I've been out of the biz for about 2 years now, but I can't believe it's gone up that much. What type of vehicle do you have?

i have the ticket in my car. you're right, the oil change and basic maintenance is about $200 or so. this is the 50-60K service.

i've got a cooper. and yes, i have male genitalia, and my girlfriend is quite fond of it.

Oh, 'nuff said. The 60K is the bank roll, ching-ching motherload of the service dept. :D

This is the interval where the most maintenance occurs.

I just had my 10k service on my car over the weekend.

I'm convinced I just paid $430 for a car wash.
