Charles Thompson busted for public intox and some other lesser charges. He said, as they were taking him off to jail, "Call Mick Cornett, he'll fix it."

No chit.

Paul Thompson's a model citizen. If he wasn't, he wouldn't have put up with cocky bomar as long as he did... which was much longer than necessary.

Former OU quarterback and sports radio announcer Charles Thompson was arrested by police this weekend on complaints of public drunkenness and disturbing the peace, police records show.

Thompson, 38, was arrested Saturday about 12:30 a.m. at the Residence Inn, 4361 W Reno Ave., records show.

Hotel managers told police they had received three noise complaints coming from Thompson's room. He was arrested after he stepped out of the room and told police "Then take me to jail," records show.

According to the report, Thompson was uncooperative, belligerent and smelled of alcohol.

Thompson was taken to the Oklahoma County jail.

As a quarterback, Thompson led the Sooners in an 11-1 season in 1987 and to a 9-3 season in 1988.

In April 1989, Thompson pleaded guilty to selling 17 grams of cocaine to an undercover FBI agent in Norman

I fail to see just what the big deal is. He was drunk in a private room making a little to much noise. Like anyone around here has never partied. Cops showed up he said some stupid things and spent the night in de-tox. Big deal.

Except his recent gigs have been preaching sobriety after his much ballyhooed cocaine conviction...

Even "good" people make mistakes.

I don't think his past really means much in this incident.

So what if he had "turned his life around" and had been preaching about the benefits of sobriety?

A drunken misstep does not a crack head make.

He made a mistake. I don't know the details.

As a few others have mentioned, who else on here hasn't done/said some things they regret after drinking?

I say we give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

Jamelle Holiway on the other hand...
