Mike Gundy was asked about the OU running back situation and his response was as follows (obviously a joke):

"I've been impressed with the backs they've had running, other than the fact (that they've been) very poorly coached. Those guys have done a really nice job of overcoming coaching and being effective runners...."

Nice jab at the little brother. Albeit probably true.

I would say that Mike has as much experience with poor coaching as anybody, so he should know. ;)

Huh...too bad those poorly coached running backs will be busting yards on his *** on Saturday.

Another quote from Coach Mikey:

"I've been impressed with the mullets they've had , other than the fact (that they've been) very poorly moussed. Those guys have done a really nice job of overcoming a decent haircut and being effective combers...."

It's a little funny. Think about it, Gundy hasn't taken a snap since 93 and he's the RB coach. Heupel hasn't taken a snap since pro camp in 01 and he's qb coach and on the fast track for an OC job (probably within 5 years).
I like that Cale has worked hard with the program, but I was watching him prior to the start of the game when Stoops was talking to the offense, Gundy was off to the side looking at the stands.

If Cale were to settle for a gig at a second tier football school he'd probably hold a higher position than he does now. Some guys prefer to coach for championship teams and learn from the best.

Gundy was probably having fun...

or else, these guys never talk to each other. After all, OSU really does hate us and stuff (no matter how much we don't care)

Maybe, but he has been learning for 4 different coordinators now at this current position.
I've seen more interviews with Patton on the ozone than Cale in the last two years.

I don't recall even a nibble as far as someone calling about his avail to go somewhere else.

I disagree. You just have to scale it... they're the Peyton and Eli of Oklahoma High School football.

Quite honestly, concerning poor coaching and what not, I imagine Mike Gundy has seen poor coaching in his career quite honestly.

beats let er' rip in any case.

You have to ask yourself one question: If you were only important for one week in an entire year at your job don't you think you would have a little fun during that one week?

I bet he can't wait until some real school hires him to cut hair and sweep up afterwards.
